I have to disagree, your interpretation of masculinity is very linear and one dimensional. Masculinity is not just about expressing dominance. If men cannot express themselves without resorting to physical violence and intimidation, that highlights a much bigger issue.
He is virtually signalling himself as another potential podcast bro archetype.
Nothing he said matches what podcast bros say. The genesis of his statement was about fatherhood, something the podcast bros despise. Tate, Fresh & Fit etc constantly argue that men should have no role in raising children, which is a woman's job. It's the antithesis of the last century of American culture where fatherhood/raising children was important to the concept of being a man.
