Although Lonzo Ball has no say in where he lands in a trade, his preference would be for the Lakers to find a third team such as Chicago or New York as a landing spot for the second-year point guard if he were part of a deal for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis, according to sources not authorized to speak publicly.

Ball’s camp has concerns about how crowded the Pelicans’ backcourt is. The problem for Ball is that he’s a key part of what the Pelicans want in a deal for Davis.

According to sources, the Pelicans view Ball as a player who would become the starting point guard. They don’t see Jrue Holiday as a point guard because he “doesn’t want to be a point guard,” one source said.

The sources said the Pelicans would play Ball 35 minutes a night and make sure he “would fit” in with New Orleans so he could become a star.

The Pelicans also have interest in Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac, and they likely would ask for draft picks too. The Lakers intend to make an offer for Davis soon, and it could involve several of their young players.

Ball's camp is saying he doesn't want to play in NO.

...lol....as if a second year player averaging less than 10 ppg has any leverage. fukk around and end up out the league if you try to sit or cause a stir.

Luckily for them...the Pelicans have almost 0 incentive to make a trade before the summer

Yeah it's completely preposterous. If you wait till the summer you can loop in the Celtics or whoever drafted Zion Williamson and go from there. The Lakers offer will always be on the table.

By Summer i believe most teams will have cooled off on the prospoect of only having AD as a rental if he stays bullish about only signing with LA

the lakers offer is the way I would go now. I know a lot dont think its going to happen before the deadline but the fact is, the longer you go, the chances increase for you getting less. a lot will change in a few months. its easier to dump those bad contracts now then to wait til offseason.

people are writing Ingram off saying he has reached his ceiling. thats ridiculous. did Giannis reach his ceiling in his 3rd year at 21 years old? Ingram, like Giannis will not reach his potential before his body fully transforms. He not even 200lbs. Tatum was more NBA ready than a lot of young players but Ingram in a couple of years could still be the better player. Brown can end up being better than Tatum too, Celts aint using him right. Ainge talking about he would rent AD but he aint gonna give up a lot to do that, maybe picks but he aint giving up Tatum and Brown. I think for Demps to salvage his job, he needs to get the best players (not picks) he can and dump as much salary as you can starting with Hill.
