because of the uncertainty of where the upcoming FA's want to play. AD dont just want to play for any team. He wants to play for a contender. if you let this get to a sign and trade scenario then that opens doors for other suitors. I am not saying it will happen, just think that if NO can get all the Lakers players and dump salary while keeping their FO intact would be ideal. being a small market team, I just think you want to avoid rebuilding if at all possible. Obviously Rich Paul and AD want to control where he goes. Boston and New York destinations are really dependent on what FA's (namely Kyrie) want to do. Also, AD may not play another game for the Pels.

Lakers should add 2 first round picks and do the upmost to keep their existing young talent. The more I think about it, they probably need to keep one of Brandon Ingram or Lonzo Ball. They are the most versatile defenders of the group, while Kuzma fits in seamlessly with a potential LeBron/AD pairing, I wonder what his upside is as a finished product overall compared to the previous two. If AD isn't moved at the deadline he'll probably be a Celtic unless Ainge gets cold feet again
