This one is awful and pointless...
Sometimes the name shortenings work (like Batista or more recently Elias), but these ones like Ali and Andrade are trash... their names weren't long to begin with, and it's not like the change is gonna make a diff. Actually it does more to make them not sound like stars. "What's his name?" "Ali" "Ali what?" "Just Ali." "His name is just Ali??"
Wild thing is, one guy that wouldnt be hurt by cutting his name is Nakamura... but they haven't done that one yet...
I wonder how it woulda been back in the day if we just had wrestlers like "Hart"... "Windham"... "Bigelow"... "Luger"... "Rhodes"... HELMSLEY...
