I do not think she holds "weight" but as a person who used to work in Corporate Public Relations and specialized in branding and brand messaging - I understand the power of press and placement and coverage.
And sometimes your competitor (or enemy) can make a statement (one you agree or disagree with) that opens up more press and speaking opportunities and coverage for a topic (campaign, brand, cause, etc) -- you are passionate about or representing.
Where you can use those opportunities to spread and share your message.
