I've been looking too. It's so hard to find real information on the subject.

But looking at poverty rates and graduation rates it would seem that minorities should be doing much worse. White graduation rates have decreased while their poverty rates have also decreased. Minority graduation rates have increased while their poverty rates have decreased as well.

its very complicated, for example its true students are doing better n some ways but if the people in the high end are doing way way way better, then the gap will persist even if minorities or low income people are doing better

you can slice data in all different ways, for example its also true that whites in the northeast do better than whites in the south or that southeast asians perform a lot worse than asians from china and korea, there are all kinds of gaps everywhere

but imo the gap between blacks and latinos vs whites and asians is significant enough to bring it up in terms of american competitiveness, i think the income gap is also legit, im not disputing that gap

Its probably common sense for the most part if you live in an area thats higher income you probably have much less violent crime...it is what it is.

Other than throwing salt in the wound or to inflame minorities i don't see the purpose of the statement...but sadly it probably is true...no need to gloat about it or to imply that ghettos with gangs are any less american...only way that goes away is more successful families that ingrain positive values and there isn't any need to be a gangsta because you have the possessions you need and want because your family is prosperous.

Only way that happens is to create a prosperous environment...i believe you make one tax rate at 10% for anyone who makes over say i don't know 50,000 or just a 5% flat tax for everyone and if your at poverty level you don't get any taxes would go a long way towards creating mass prosperity but its a pipe dream at this point to even attempt.

despite my lack of argumentative success in this thread (I'm sleep deprived and don't like to argue about the way people express things) I am happy to have and continue to stand for the notion that you shouldn't off-handedly qualify a population's characteristics by excluding minorities as if they aren't integral parts of that nation.
