Don't expect much just because it was hyped up. The game is a busywork game where you collect stuff and check in and play for 20-30 mins at a time once a day until something interesting happens.

It's a slow build and can really bore you especially if you arent interested in the customization. I've played the series since the original on gamecube so this social media hype it has really blows my mind. Very niche game and it takes someone whose very patient with time to kill to really enjoy it. It's rewarding if you invest a lot of time with it and are okay with mindlessly collecting items.

That being said I enjoy the series, but definitely temper your expectations.

Im honestly looking for a sims/ stardew valley hybrid to keep my mind at ease in the coming months :russ:

This seems like a worthy contender in that category but I've heard the same gripes. Especially for the first handful of days you play starting from scratch unless you decide to warp time. Im ready to start from a hatchet :hubie:

Its a little bit of that but you have less control of things than the sims, and the characters aren't much. Its all based in real time so yeah you can time travel by using the system clock, but again the game is designed for you to play the game for a little bit of time each day instead of a lot of time on one day.

Not gonna lie. As a kid, once you figured out the cash hack of The Sims, the integrity of putting in grit/time to build up your place went out the window.

I bought it and said I would play conservatively and then two weeks in I said fukk that and started building my McMansion

If you’re into those kinda games then it’ll be fire for you. It is a slow burn, but part of its charm is seeing how your island develops in real time:ehh:

I can’t front I got this for my GF & kid but I been playing it just as much as they have:lolbron:

It hasn’t even been a week yet and the islands starting to grow and it’s cool to see it develop over time as you get more familiar with the land

Just stay busy racking up nook miles and stacking bells. There’s always gonna be a point where you’re kinda like “ok I’m done for the day” but you’ll get in that loop of doing certain tasks every day and checking what’s new on the island

On a sidenote: Check out Escape To River Cottage and then Return To River Cottage. If you want a show to encapsulate the concept of this game, sit back and prepare to be enamored over tilling you garden and picking the right livestock and look no further.

Built this nice ass museum. :wow:

Gotta pay back this damn debt so I been selling fish and shells to this little c00n guy to get that cleared up. Met some ghost character last night and celebrated a birthday this morning. Need to finish building a store and find a way to climb these mountains to the north.

How does Tom get away with this bullshyt. This just ain't right. Convincing nikkas to move to Chiligans Island and then having them owe him in a currency they didn't even know existed before arriving.

And Timmy and Tommy can't be more than like 14. He working them all day with no breaks. Illegal af.

First day really getting to know my island and trying to get things going.

still need an iron ore to get this DIY workbench at my site. Went crazy trying to find one smashing every rock in sight but came up empty. Now I gotta wait another day for one rock to respawn...think i got a little overzealous :unimpressed:

this game is therapy right now :mjcry:

Don’t smash your rocks, breh. Just hit them like regular, and it’ll spit out different material like: iron nuggets, stone, clay and golden ores.
You can also do this with the money rock, and get a nice 10-12 thousand bells.
