I don't dispute that, but ultimately the onus is on the population to exercise their democratic rights to vote for who they deem most suitable, opposed to a perpetual lesser evil. While that doesn't entirely do away with the two party state, it certainly crrates for more leverage in favour of the voter. Case in point being the UK. The British political landscape resembles that of America more than any other European country. Neither party supported Brexit, the most impactful political decision in last several decades. Yet the voters managed to force their hand with their willingness to vote for a third party.

He didn't take a blood oath for the mafia. He is beholden only to the interests of his municipality, not a political party.
