The merger involves the Renew America Movement, formed in 2021 by dozens of former officials in the Republican administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Donald Trump; the Forward Party, founded by Yang, who left the Democratic Party in 2021 and became an independent; and the Serve America Movement, a group of Democrats, Republicans and independents whose executive director is former Republican congressman David Jolly.

The party, which is centrist, has no specific policies yet. It will say at its Thursday launch: "How will we solve the big issues facing America? Not Left. Not Right. Forward."

So it's basically going to be a center-right party for rich white people to push neoliberalism. :mjlol:

wont work, but necessary :yeshrug:

we need a far right MAGA party, a centrist party, and a far left party in this country. two parties isnt enough anymore

if we scrapped the whole thing and started over, we'd probably end up with that exact three

I hope this is a Party that only focuses on local politics.

National candidates could tip an election to the extremists

I imagine something like that won't happen until the United States dissolves/ceases to exist in its current form.

Our election system does not and will never allow for more than 2 major parties. First past the post forces voters to abandon who they actually want to vote for and instead vote for the person that is the closest to their ideology but has the best chance to win. If you don't vote for that person you run the risk of somebody even further than them from your ideology winning. Realistically you're only going to have two choices that have a shot at winning. A vote for anyone else helps out a person you don't want winning at all.
