I'm sure being voted to the All-Star team meant more. No-name bums rarely get voted on there. But they win dunk contests all the time.
Matta fact, if a nikka told me he won an NBA slam dunk contest post-Vince Carter, I would laugh in that nikka's face.

Nah, he was afraid not to win it, he was in the McDonald's All American dunk contest and outside of the hang time it was pretty boring and showed zero creativity.

Can't really hear much to be honest. But we know LeBron can do better dunks because we've seen better dunks in games... with defenders under the rim.
But Jay-Z said it best: "If you shoot me you're famous. If I shoot you, I'm brainless."
LeBron has NOTHING to gain from entering a dunk contest and EVERYTHING to lose. You can call that scared but I disagree with that definition.
Here's another Hip Hop quotable from Big L: "All you unsigned cats that wanna battle, get a deal first."
