Kendrick seems the type to do MMA on the low.
Professional comedy has gotten a bit ridiculous IMO
It's strange that it's become such a relevant thing in culture. Some people were good at jokes, impersonations etc. Sometimes you would go to a show or club, or watch a comedy movie - it was just a thing that existed
This whole need to legitimize it into some sacred craft in recent years and politicize it just feels strange. Then the parasocial element kicks in.
There's obviously a business interest in doing this, but it doesn't sit right with me seeing it become something for enthusiasts in this way
Yeah right.TDE is filled with known gangstas, ain't the fakkit ones from OVO
Every black L.A dude that's high ranked is connected with the police.Everybody in LA knows Anthony (tde) built his label with drug money (and very dirty stuff), he ain't scared of the police
Comedy itself is a craft. Sacred I don't know, maybe.Comedy is a sacred craft IMO, the same way rap is. In fact I consider the great comics to be MC's in their own right.
But that doesn't stop "rappers" from being completey garbage or detrimental to the crowd they present their rap to. When we protected our free speech we did it for everybody. That does not negate someone using the art/craft in a way that is harmful, the point is you're allowed to speak, and "we" the crowd are allowed to be moved in one directon or another.
Schulz is wack, not because he's offensive but because he's just not funny to me. I'm fine with him telling whatever joke he wants to tell, but if it doesn't land and people can't follow your thought process behind it anywhere productive or thoughtful, you missed. He missed, Even some of the clowns that reguarly think he's funny say he missed.
His response to Kendrick telling other black men to not just brush that off like they sat there and did in real time was to say he could take his manhood if he wanted.
When he gets violated I’ll be sure to have some material ready.
Comedy itself is a craft. Sacred I don't know, maybe.
What's the album equivalent in comedy, a taped special?
The medium just seems different, and that's fine, but a lot of current comedy is just people sitting around podding. This exists in rap too, Joe Budden and others but it isn't really art is it? The line between conversational humor and actually working a bit and saying something poignant seems not worth exploring at this point. People are looking to comedians to validate their world view
I guess I'm not going to rate a comedian on 10 or make a list of my favorite specials and revisit them. I have a vinyl collection for my music - it's just different, shrug
