Exclusive – Carl Froch tells ‘deluded’ Andre Ward: ‘It’s Nottingham or nowhere!’
By talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) | Friday, June 19, 2015

Carl Froch has told Andre Ward he’s deluded if he thinks they can realistically fight at Wembley Stadium.
Ward is set to face Liverpool-born Paul Smith in Oakland, California on Saturday after claiming the Cobra had ‘disappeared’.

The American pugilist, who is currently the WBA super-middleweight champion, has said he does want to make a bout against Froch happen, but wants it to be in a bigger venue than the City Ground.

Froch, though, has said Ward ‘hasn’t got a clue’ and insists Nottingham is the right place for the match, which would hand the Cobra a chance to avenge a 2011 defeat in New Jersey.

He told the Sports Bar: “Andre Ward says he doesn’t want to come to Nottingham because it’s a [30,000 seat arena] so he’s says if he’s going to come to England it’s going to be for Wembley Stadium - but guess what, Andre Ward, nobody wants to come and see you fight.

“They want to come and see me fight but not against [Ward] at Wembley Stadium. It’s not a big enough fight for Wembley because Andre Ward is boring and unknown – that’s a fact. It’s not a Wembley fight.

“You can’t just come and fight at Wembley Stadium, you need the right ingredients, like what we had with the second George Groves fight.

“If Andre Ward wants to fight me, like he says he does, why doesn’t he come to Nottingham, get the biggest payday of his career and beat me in my hometown? His excuse was he wants to do it at Wembley Stadium but we can’t go to Wembley because it doesn’t sell. It sells 20-30,000 in Nottingham but at Wembley it doesn’t. This guy is deluded. He hasn’t got a clue.”

But Froch has revealed he’s more than happy to fight again, despite not facing an opponent since May 2014, just as long as it makes fiscal sense.

He added: “If I don’t box again, I don’t fight again. I’ll be a very happy and satisfied man. I’ve had a fantastic career but that’s not to say I wouldn’t fight again. I’m 37 years old walking around at 12 stone seven pounds and there is fight left in me. Everyone wants an announcement – am I going to fight or retire – but I don’t what I’m going to do.

“If an opportunity comes up to fight a feasible opponent that’s going to make not just me, but Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Promotions a lot of money, like the Andre Ward fight in Nottingham would have, then I’ll fight again.

“But at the moment there are no real options, even the James De Gale fight is not a big fight.”

:camby:

Like I said before, they could fight at the M.E.N. Arena which holds 21,000 people in Manchester or the O2 Arena which holds 20,000 people in London...both which hold over 3000+ more than the MGM Grand does in Vegas.:birdman:

:dead: at thinking someone is foolish enough to fight you in your LITERAL hometown and the EXACT SAME venue they watched someone else beat you in...but get robbed:comeon:

Use common sense Frochy Froch:wow:

Let's NOT forget the Dawson fight:mjpls:

Chad Dawson called out Andre Ward after beating Bernard Hopkins, and said he would fight him at 168....not the other way around:ufdup:

SOG took him up on that offer:sas1:

So, what are you talking about or do you Frochy Froch stans wanna continue leaving out minor things like, ya know, FACTS when discussing SOG:sas2:

This entire quote deserves nothing but the bushes:camby:

Again, Hearn is on RECORD saying that they know Andre Ward is willing to fight ANYWHERE in England...ANYWHERE in the entire country but Nottingham, and you're in here talking about "bu-bu-but, Nottingham":camby:

Since when in the last 25 years of Boxing has someone totally dominated an a opponent on neutral ground and then fought the rematch in that SAME OPPONENT'S backyard?:usure:

Tell me when this has happened please?:birdman:

That's just totally :snoop: that you would even type that:camby:

Are you telling me the only place in the entire country where Froch can fight Ward is in Nottingham?:comeon:

Really?:aicmon:

Really? Andre Ward should fight Carl Froch in the SAME place where he watched Andre Dirrell BEAT Froch and get robbed on the cards in the Super Six.....Nottingham?:yeahright:

It's obvious to everyone who has reported on this fight that it's Hearn and Froch who dont want the match. The WBA mandated the fight happen.......and crickets from Hearn and Froch except talking about "who's a draw", like that means anything to the WBA who ordered the purse bid themselves:camby:

The WBA ordered the fight, but Hearn and Froch backed down which is why he was STRIPPED of his belt:ufdup:

Take those excuses elsewhere:camby:

Lol @ chasing someone you alraedy beat whos 66 years old and is trying to get a payday. fukking scumbags.

If ward whooped my ass and I got a chance to avenge my loss before i retired im fighting him anywhere at any time. Never understood people who are trying to avenge their losses being so picky about shyt (eg Hopkins vs Jones 60-40)
Just makes it look like they don't want to fight

WTF are you babbling about? When did Frochy Froch fight Direll at the City Ground? :mjlol:

Froch is spitting some hard truths here, Ward sells no tickets and no one wants to see him fight. Dude has to give away tickets in Oakland to fill them seats, and they dont get filled :heh:

Even your own americans like Floyd attest to this. :mjlol:

What is Ward meaning when he says his fans are being cheated if the fight doesnt happen at Wembley? Ward bum ass hasnt got any damn fans :mjcry:

Why is it so hard for you Ward stans to understand that its not viable to have the fight at Wembley or any other arena? They can sell 40k tickets. Wembley holds 80k, other arenas are 20k, City ground is 40k. Its quite simple really. Ward brings nothing to the table so should accept the crumbs he is given, seeing as he's been on his knees begging for this fight (then subsequently ducking the offer :francis:) This is all fact. Patiently awaiting your next spin job :mjpls:
