i think the reason they should do it is because of republican conduct in this area.

republicans refused to seat a justice for a year under the pretext that the american people should get to decide in an election year. then they rammed one in in less than a month before an election because they had the power. their goal from all of this has transparently been to swing the court to the right wing and prevent the democratic party from being able to achieve and maintain political gains. the fact that SCOTUS issued a bunch of slim 5-4 majorities in support of crucial issues for the democratic party's voters like the ACA, abortion rights and gay marriage makes the prospect of a 6-3 conservative court extremely disturbing to any democratic politician or voter.

why should the democrats not add seats to the Supreme Court? its not against the constitution. it isn't any more a violation of norms than either holding a seat open for a year or ramming a judge through the month before the election (both of which were unprecedented - restructuring of SCOTUS is not). the democratic party has every interest to do this and, if they gain the Senate, no reason not to.
Make logical arguments to a bad faith, intentionally obtuse WOAT level poster, brehs

God bless you sir

I dont understand the question:dwillhuh:

The SC has been fine IMO(I'd even say its been good) and hasnt shown any signs of needing restructuring:yeshrug:
Ill ask you as well, what series of recent SC decisions make you believe the institution is compromised or in need of reform?

Confirmations could use some tweaking to make it less political, but restructuring a functioning SC seem like partisan nonsense untethered from reality.
lets be honest, its not fine at 6-3 conservative. that doesnt remotely represent what america looks like

adding 2 to make it 6-5 conservative is the right thing to do. mcconnell and grahams hypocrisy is undeniable and deserves a response

I oppose the ACA so :yeshrug:I hope packing the court doesnt happen
:ehh:

At least you can admit what I’ve been saying the whole time: the current makeup benefits conservatives so you’re cool with it. Typical conservative stance, pretend to care about norms when you see the writing on the wall.

No reason to play these “show me another Court decision” games. We’ve already posted several cases showing the Court enabling trump and conservatives but you keep asking for more as if it’s making your point somehow. The right has been packing courts all over the country and that’s never bugged you, but you’re in here fear mongering because this would rightfully give more power to the left. That’s all there is to it.

And when it’s 7-4 add two more? Then when it’s 8-5 add two more?:francis:

Assuming Biden wins and the Dems get rid of the filibuster, Republicans will be out of power for the next 8-12 years (unless they become more moderate on social issues - which would be a good thing).

People are tripping that they want the court to expand to 11. Conservatives will still have a majority. The time has passed for playing fair. Expand the courts to 13 fukk that weak 11 shyt. Thats why democrats always gets slapped around playing fair.
Add 10 justices, imo. That is the way to make the court not partisan in the future.

If the Dems seize power and don't do anything to the courts its going to enrage the base and they will get killed in the midterms in 2022 and likely 2024. The DNC raised all this money after RBG died and only to when they have power to say ":hubie:" is crazy.

At least Biden and Harris haven't said anything solid which tells me they are open to pack the courts. Biden did say after the election he will give his response which is smart to me. But im getting ready for a major letdown. Instead of focusing on "well when Republicans win next time" focusing on trying to WIN every election going forward. Demographics is on your side. Expand voting rights and make it easier. That way you will have the advantage in every election. I swear with Democrats its always three steps forward and 10 steps back.

the ACA case is going to be decided in the lame duck.

if SCOTUS overturns it with ACB Warner and em arent gonna be able to argue this anymore. the base is gonna be out for blood and if dems dont deliver on protecting health care they will get killed in the midterms :hubie:

And that’s why I said ACB nor the Scotus don’t have the fukkin balls to repeal the ACA during a global pandemic... People will legit go to those justices homes if these right wing justices think shyt sweet
