It's easy to see why this movie appeals to the general population. People don't know much about Chris Kyle, but when the TV Spot is shown multiple times during every NFL playoff game, with tons of positive review quotes that make it seem like an epic portrayal of an American Hero, people are going to be drawn to it. I have a friend who was in the military who saw it and is obviously bias towards the movie for that reason who is telling me if I dont cry at the end of the movie I have no soul. He claims that Cooper should be a lock for Best Actor, and told me my mind would be changed about Michael Keaton's performance in Birdman after i see this.

I'm going to see American Sniper tomorrow with a group of people who never go to the theater to see movies. people just eat this type of shyt up.

it's a good movie. 3.5/5 i guess. Definitely a lot of shyt for the super patriotic crowd to eat. definitely not a movie I'd ever want to argue about... not sure you can argue for or against this guy or movie without sounding like a fukkin idiot to be honest. Won't act like I didn't make this face :childplease: about 7 times throughout the movie.

This was like the steak and budweiser of movies.

I saw this yesterday.

I can't believe this movie is getting Oscar nominations.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bradley Cooper did a fine job. And the acting is good and everything.

But this movie isn't even as good as Jarhead. And for the life of me, I can't understand why Jarhead didn't get MORE praise. It was easily...EASILY better than American Sniper, or The Hurt Locker.

I did watch Birdman, too.
And I still think Boyhood and Gone Girl were the best movies I've seen so far over the past year.
Unless I'm forgetting some indie movie.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is getting a lot of buzz over the last week and I liked it. I really did. But Moonrise Kingdom was way more enjoyable for me, personally.
At least Wes Anderson is getting more recognition though.

I still haven't seen Inherent Vice...and I really want to. I have a feeling it's pretty good.

Edit -- I have yet to watch Selma.
I'll get to that tomorrow.

Seeing as how it's based on a true story of a ultra-conservative, xenophobic soldier, I thought conservatives were going to come out in droves for this as a way to honor him posthumously.

They held this man's memorial at Cowboys Stadium for God's sake.

man, I'll say it, don't care. Call me a moron. Call me unpatriotic. Call me whatever you want - every single war scene set in the middle east looks exactly the same to me. I had deja vu during every deployment scene in this movie, and I couldn't even tell you which movie I was thinking about b/c every single one is blended together in my head.

Hard not to be, but it's a very repetitive genre that always has the exact same scenes/sounds/dialogue/etc.

carry on
