I'm not saying the movie is 100% historically accurate and depicts each side equally. Any war movie that truly depicts how HORRIFIC war is, is a good thing imo. And blackhawk down is horrific. I didn't even know it was based on some real life soldier. But you were in here saying the acting was bad and that the script was horrible, which in my opinion is completely wrong. I don't really know about Somali deaths being "bizarre" they fell down because they got shot. I didn't come off as viewing the somali's as subhuman but I'm also not a dumbass who just assumes one side is good and one side is bad. The biggest problem I had with American Sniper was that it was somewhat sugar coated. I didn't feel horrified like I did watching Blackhawk Down, Fury, or Saving Private Ryan.
we can agree to disagree breh

:ehh: You might be right. I just like the way the movie was shot, and I didn't come away from the movie like "fukk yeah, America", but more "damn son, war is terrible :mjcry:"

More info.

Totally agree with this statement, the movie was certainly not PROWAR. No way in hell.

Were you not horrified by blackhawk down though? I just revisited it a few months ago and after the movie was over I felt like I had a better idea of how horrible war is. Thats what I came away from the movie with. It was sad, intense, and scary. Fury was the same way.

Has America ever turned a real soldier in to a celebrity superhero/icon before? We haven't had a popular war since WW2 or maybe Korea so its very strange (cuz cac-tacular is not a word) that this lunatic is getting fame over the thousands of other veterans who I'm sure have more impressive and heroic stories...

im ignorant as fukk, but the only soldiers (and they really weren't at the time of their fame for the most part) i even know post WW2 are Swartzkov(sp?), Colin Powell, and Ollie North... oh and Pat Tillman.

a Pat Tillman movie would make $4m opening weekend, and he has the entire sports fan world on his side. I'm still completely baffled by this box office, even after all the points raised

Maybe John McCain too:ld:

But yeah like you said. War movies "based on a true story" come out all the time and nobody gives a fukk Pat Tillman's movie would go straight to Netflix. But for some reason people love this guy in particular...

I watched the movie, it was decent. Then I started reading about dude. He claims he was on top of the superdome sniping people after Katrina. He actually seems like a bit of a racist and an a$$hole. There are also reports that most of his book was fabricated. Lot of funny-style shyt with this dude.

i saw something on twitter but didn't know whether it was a real quote or people fukkin around, but it said Chris Kyle shot 2 dudes trying to carjack him and laced the bullets with poison from a dart frog, claiming he owned 100,000 of those frogs.

Listen, the big difference between American Sniper and Blackhawk Down has to do with the quality of the action sequences. Forget which are pro war or military propaganda, I already discussed all that in here. Blackhawk Down's action sequences are tough as fukk. American Sniper came off like a B-movie.

believe me when I say I am no redneck "murrica" hick but man some of you guys gotta be kidding me with this anti shyt. seriously what is the fukkin problem? must every movie have a scene where everyone holds hands and sings kumbaya?

in no way did I feel this movie glorified war or glorified american presence in the middle east. it simply was what it was. you take from it whatever you brought going in. but at the very least cooper's character - as he is depicted in the film - was an honorable man and an honorable soldier.

now if that depiction offends you then I don't know what to say.
