I'm a big fan of the desolate, post apocalyptic, zombie setting, but i don't have much faith in AMC getting it right after watching the last few seasons of walking dead. The show is a huge tease because at the start of every season it seems like the writing is taking the next level only to revert back to the same moral dilemmas and character conflicts in the second half of each season. I wanna say there's just not much you can work with in this type of setting but then i see video games and comics make it work and tell an engaging story. I've come to accept that TWD at this point is just a soap opera with zombies, and i guess it has to be like that to attract the viewers they get.
