As I stated before, I get where both of you guys are coming from. We want the same thing so its not like we are on different sides of this.
At the end of the day, I agree that the perfect (murder conviction) should not be the enemy of the good (manslaughter conviction) lest she gets away with the worst possible scenario, an acquittal.

I'm honestly just sad for the family.

I'm sad that she's out on bail
I'm sad that she wasn't arrested on sight the first night
I'm sad that they let her celebrate her 30th bday while this man's parents are planning his funeral.

At the end of the day, I would rather see a manslaughter conviction than a botched murder trail.
But I would really rather see a murder conviction

Agreed. This entire process of "justice" is a frustrating charade.

All of this is horseshyt :scust: She missed the red mat because she was carrying bags? Yeah. Sure.

So are they going to run with the narrative that he didn't comply with the officer's demands in the heat of the moment now? :scust:

Story already changing... smh. this is even more clear first degree murder. She Illegally entered the man's house and gunned him down.

The Two One Five
DALLAS (AP) — The Latest on a fatal shooting involving an off-duty Dallas police officer (all times local):

3:50 p.m.

An investigator says a Dallas police officer who shot and killed her neighbor after mistaking his apartment for her own said that when she inserted her key in his door, it opened because it had been slightly ajar.

David Armstrong of the Texas Rangers wrote in an arrest affidavit released Monday that Officer Amber Guyger said it was nearly completely dark inside the apartment when she entered it Thursday night and she thought she was encountering a burglar in her home.

He says Guyger said the person ignored her verbal commands and she fired twice. One struck Jean in the chest and he later died.

The affidavit says Guyger was on the phone with 911 reporting the shooting when she turned on the apartment lights and discovered she was in the wrong apartment. It says Jean’s apartment was the one right above Guyger’s and the apartment layouts and exterior hallways were nearly identical.

The Latest: Affidavit: Cop said neighbor's door was ajar

That didn't take long. I already had a feeling it was going to come down to the victim somehow being the one at fault. More often than not, this is the excuse given when an unnecessary shooting takes place. shyt is horrible.

She's getting convicted....that's not really a question.

The issue is sentencing. Manslaughter will be easier to hit the burden of proof than murder. Texas doesn't have murder 1 vs murder 2 etc. It's Capital Murder, Murder and Manslaughter. Assuming premeditation is risky so they had to go with manslaughter to get the conviction.....but the jury could come back with 2 years, 10 years or 20 years. Judge could intervene and give a slap on the wrist.
