and we shouldn't take that as a win. 10 years from now she'll be out of jail with a gofundme bag to boot. A lot of white folks will do 10 years if they got a bag coming for them and theirs.

It is a win because everybody thought she would do ZERO years. Go read the comments before the verdict. It's not what we wanted but its a huge win

Well.... I know emotions are high.. I said from the start she would probably get 5-12... Reason being even though she was off duty, there is still this perception of “law of the land” and just good old fashioned white supremacy.. I knew there was no way she would get 25+ but I held out hope she would...

I know the family and many of us feel that man life was worth more. I somehow hope she dies in prison. But taking my emotions out, it’s time for Renee hall the DPD chief, the DA, and Jean’s lawyers to go after the DPD for a civil suit. This was a blatant cover up.

Sadly this case won’t move the needle and for EVERYONE who wanted justice in the sense, have a somewhat bitter taste... But still there has to be a precedent set better in forth to punish cops like regular citizens...

Yep I always thought she would get 10 to 15 at the most. Just looking at the convictions of other cops who have killed like Laquan in Chicago and the other cop in dallas who killed Jordan Edwards.

20 year conviction for a cop is hard to get. Basically the jury took the 2 to 20 years she was eligible for and cut it in half.

In saying all of that there has been progress made cause before the sista DA in Baltimore prosecuted those cops...cops weren't even getting charged with murder. In the last few years cops have been charged with murder and actually convicted. This has never been heard of in the history of America before the last few years.

So the fight still ain't over. The next step is to make sure they are charged, convicted and have harsher sentences when they commit unjust murders.

Progress is never ever ever easy.

What I'm saying is no matter how bullsht it is. People expected her to be free right now not doing no time at all. And they had accepted that in their minds she was free. So compared to those expectations 10 years is a win. Go read all the comments before the verdict you'll see every body projecting she would be found not guilty.

It's okay to not settle.

You're basically saying that because no one expected the right thing to be done, a half assed attempt should be praised.

In this case, the response should be similar to what you would say to your kids. "That's a nice effort, and I'm glad you did it, but you can do better."

They basically gave her a tough manslaughter sentence. For murder. Again, I appreciate that an attempt at serving justice was made, but better should've been done.

No Parole? At least we know she wouldn’t get 10 years, but get off in 5 :francis:

But can she still get out of jail on an appeal bond or not?
