I read Jesse Eisinger's book about the relationship between Justice and corporate law firms/white collar fraud/settlements and deferred prosecutions.

It's not illegal but it's definitely sinister.Amazon showing their products first on their platform doesnt strike me as illegal or sinister.
this is exactly how businesses treat most competitors had a dentist accuse the russian dentist across the street of having mob ties just because he was killing him with the same visibilityIt's not illegal but it's definitely sinister.
Inviting smaller businesses to your gargantuan platform just so you can study their analytics
and steal their customers is REALLY SHADY.
Especially when realistically there aren't really many competitors to Amazon as far as e-commerce goes in a sense they might as well be google.
It'd be the equivalent to throwing your website on Google's search engine and when it blows up, they just throw their own
copycat website at the top of the searches and put you at the bottom of the page or on the dreaded second page to languish in obscurity.
Relevant video, Cowen defends monopoly. I think he does a good job.
as an amazon seller
they explicitly tell you when you sign up as a seller that amazons customers are THEIRS alone. They go through lengths to reiterate that to every seller
a smart brand will invest in their own fulfillment or seek multichannel to avoid overexposure
people complaining about amazon should explore other platforms if they truly dont like it breaking them up wont change that business model (it is clearly a fire business model )
im not saying that they arent a monopoly but monopolies dont come to be because of the business themselves as much as it is their customersThis is what monopolists always say.
My criticism isn't based on the success or failure of their business model. The issue is that the "success" of the model has negative consequences for consumers, small businesses and the country.
