Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
That’s all it is. They want to justify having all them buildings. What’s the point of having buildings with no people in them?
It's not so much that, it's the LOCATION. My boss explained it very well to me one day

Lets say we let everybody work from home from now on.... Why do we need this building? We don't right? Ok cool. Let's get rid of it and save money. That's a win for everybody.................

Ok what's going to be the next step to more profits??? "Why are we paying for employees in ___________ state when we can pay the same employees half in ________________ state?" The company doesn't give two shyts where you live if you're not coming in. So why pay a cost of living to a New York when you can pay it to someone in Wyoming?

And then what's going to come after that? "Guys, why are we paying these guys to work in Wyoming when we can pay these Indians 1/4th the amount?"

Yes some companies do this and don't ever change a thing and everything is perfect... MOST companies will fukk over 10,000 employees to make an extra buck and that's the employees who actually show up in the office. Imagine how quickly they'll fukk over somebody they never even met

Workers at tech companies felt they were too good to unionize because they assigned themselves as above the rest of the labor force in their minds

So now they cant stand up for themselves en masse...

By the way a lot of this tough talk these companies spout is bluster....when a decent amount of employees push back companies have to hit the :whoa:

id argue even if that weren't the case amazon and others would still try and get people to rto. All these shareholders are buddy buddy with city officials and the lack of foot traffic is affecting the amount of money they pull in from taxes and whatnot. WFH is fukking up their money
That makes a lot of sense. Our company gets a huge local tax break. I can see the city saying "hey if you don't put butts back in the office, no point in giving you a tax breaks for people who aren't commuting to the city any more"
