2nd-Gen Amazon Fire TV on sale for $79.99 at Amazon

Posted on October 7, 2015

2ng-gen-fire-tv-sale-79.jpg

Amazon has just put the new 2nd-Gen Fire TV on sale for $79.99. Perhaps they’re regretting not offering any type of pre-order deal like they did with the Fire TV Stick and other Amazon devices. If you already purchased one, it should be relatively easy to contact customer service and be refunded $20. Unfortunately, the gaming edition is not on sale and is still listed for $139.99. At this time, the sale appears to be exclusive to the US and Amazon. The new Fire TV is not on sale in the UK, Germany, or Japan, and nor is it on sale at Best Buy, Staples, or B&H. If you’re an Amazon Student member, you’ll receive an additional $20 off today only, which brings the price down to $59.99.

Update
Refunds are very quick and easy. I was issued a refund within a couple minutes through Amazon’s chat.

Amazon Student members can buy a 2nd-Gen Fire TV for $59.99 — Today Only

Posted on October 7, 2015

Amazon is currently running their annual Amazon Student Days event where they offer students with a .edu email address special discounts. One of those discounts is an additional $20 off of the new 2nd-gen Fire TV. With the new Fire TV already on sale for $79.99, that brings the price down to $59.99 for students. If you are not an Amazon Student member and have a .edu email address, you can join Amazon Student for free for 6 months. Amazon Student is similar to Prime membership, but at a reduced price with slightly fewer perks. This Amazon Student price of $59.99 for the Fire TV ends tonight at midnight.

is it worth the upgrade

bout to cop one
I'm biased because I have the first one but it's worth it to me since I only need full Kodi support. You may want to see what that Roku 4 is hitting on too if you use other features.

Pos rep homie.

Wasting my fukking lunch break on the phone with Amazon trying to get this $20 :heh: I'm going to just go back into work and do the chat. This is ridiculous. I'm looking at $79.99 in my cart and the rep couldn't figure it out. They outsource some of the call jobs and the language barrier is a bytch.

Hate that I missed the 59.99 deal :noah:

Second gen is smoother than the first using Kodi. Even smoother than the real Amazon interface.

There is a bug with the 5.1 surround sound not working though. A lot of people are pissed so it has bad reviews.

A dude in the comments section of this article (2nd-Gen Fire TV or Gaming Edition are 25% off at Staples with printable coupon) told us how to buy the new Amazon Fire TV for $55 (+tax) from Staples.com:

There’s also a $20 off $70 online if using Visa Checkout…which can be stacked with a $25 off of $75 coupon if you know where to procure one of those. (Hint: eBay)
Go to eBay, type “Staples 75 coupon”, look at buy-it-now options, and look for a reputable seller. Should typically have your coupon code via email within a few minutes, to a couple of hours. Use Coupon, plus visa checkout to get $45 off total. Recommended to use Guest Checkout to keep things from going haywire.

:blessed:I hopped on this deal!!

I just saw this on Slickdeals. No brainer at this price. I took an L for not waiting on the price mistakes and Staples deals that popped up like last year, but I'm not mad with it for $80 out of the door.

:snoop: I just took an L paying $4.70 for that $25 off coupon code, when this $30 off code was available for free. I should've checked slickdeals first.
