As a guy who doesn't root for any team but watches most games because of my gambling habit it's amazing how popular the sport is for such a mediocre product.

They'res literally two or three pretty good teams and a lot of awful to mediocre teams who will win between 6-9 games based on luck.

There is also so much bad qb play and when two bad qb's are facing each other it's literally unwatchable. Tonight will be Matt Hasselback and Ryan Mallet starting and will be an awful game yet will still get ratings :wow:

Say what you want about the nfl but the fact that they have such a popular product when it's not a good product and the whole leagues built to be between anywhere 6-10 and 10-6 is mind boggling.

You have been ranting against the NFL for more than a year now. You forgot the obligatory, "Why aren't NFL players like hockey players?|

The NBA is still the worst product even after all the reasons you just listed.

if the nba made regular season games matter more, restructured it's television format, and went away from the 7-7-7-7 playoff format in favor of something less drawn out and more exciting... it believe it would be a lot closer to competing with the nfl. they have the most television friendly product by far and hands down the most popular athletes.

unfortunately 90% of the regular season is filler exhibition and no one really checks in until the playoffs, and even then there's really only 2-3 teams that have a shot. it's a very predictable league.

49ers..Braves..Celtics
I can't co-sign this thread. The Eagles, Saints, 49ers.. were all fun teams to watch and their window didn't close. The Owners/GM's fukked the teams up. The Saints let too many guys who were perfect for their system go. They could have paid Jimmy Graham but they didn't and now he's in a system that doesn't really work for him. The 49ers fukked up their coaching staff. The Eagles fukked up an offense that would be prolific.

You combine dumb shyt like that with the Cowboys suffering catastrophic injuries and the NFC fell off a lot for no reason.

I love the NBA as much as anyone else but they watered down the product. Look at the eastern conference. Who can even challenge the Cavs this year. The Bulls? nah. We're all getting ready for an 82-game season in which there is a 95% probability that the Cavs will represent the East in the finals.

I'll be watching mostly west coast games anyway and the western playoffs will be lit but discuss that East brehs. Discuss it. :scust:

two or three?? that's exactly why i know, you know shyt about football

shyt there's about 3 good teams in the afc east alone... i can name at least 10-12 good teams right now

and looking back at super bowl winners, it's always a quick change to the next set of great teams

but the reason football has it locked, cause it's an event

162 baseball games... you can miss half and not care... a team can lose 70 games and still make it

hockey 80 some games

basketball is 82

football is 16 games... and damn near all are must win games... and every play somebody is getting the shyt knocked out of them.... and it's (used to be) ONE day a week..

that's most important... that they scheduled it all for one day... a shytty lazy day where nobody is at work, everyone is tired or dreading monday... they schedule it right after church... nothing else is on tv... everything bout to close at 6pm... and there ain't shyt else to do except....................................

watch football

Its popularity has little to do with the quality of the product and more to do with the fact that it taps into the so-called hypermasculinity of American culture.

Contrast this with soccer which people refer to as a soft or "p*ssy" sport. People literally are describing sports not for the skill-set needed to play it, but in terms of the 'toughness' of the athletes.

There's a lot of pseudosexual undertones involved with NFL. Just watch a combine and listen to the descriptive terms being used for some of the athletes. :scusthov:

People just want to see huge men simply bash each other around in a gladiatorial manner similar to peak of the Roman colosseum. Aside from this, the NFL obviously has their marketing dollars working overtime.

It's also a subculture where people devote their Sundays to almost to a degree of religiosity.
