Amazing how The Nfl is such a mediocre product yet has control over the general public

This year is the least I've ever watched the NFL. The eagles are trash sure but I used to get enjoyment out of just watching random games. It's been pretty boring this year though. CFB has overtaken the NFL for me . I can watch College damn near all day.

Agreed. Gambling, fantasy, nothing else being on, constant controversies, and then Fandom are the reason football is as big as it is.
If you just watch the games they're boring as hell if you don't have a team or fantasy player in it (and fantasy is wack tbh and not for true fans of a team but that's another discussion). Snooze level status

The GOAT sport on the otherhand CFB is filled with excitement every week.

I'm talking about consistently breh. Year to year, the Super Bowl has been on an incredible run the past 6-7 years with the exception of Broncos/Seahawks.

Me too. That run has actually been 16/17 years with duds sprinkled in every so often. Turn of the century was amazing and the run has only continued since then.

As a guy who doesn't root for any team but watches most games because of my gambling habit it's amazing how popular the sport is for such a mediocre product.

They'res literally two or three pretty good teams and a lot of awful to mediocre teams who will win between 6-9 games based on luck.

There is also so much bad qb play and when two bad qb's are facing each other it's literally unwatchable. Tonight will be Matt Hasselback and Ryan Mallet starting and will be an awful game yet will still get ratings

Say what you want about the nfl but the fact that they have such a popular product when it's not a good product and the whole leagues built to be between anywhere 6-10 and 10-6 is mind boggling.

Every sunday is a mix of gambling, violence with a touch of patriotism.

In short, ppl watch the NFL b/c it's culture because it's damn sure not quality. And up until the past 5-6 years, the SB itself was usually a let down.

That first Pats-Giants SB (with the David Tyree catch) did wonders for the NFL.

And you get the occasional 4th qtr finish like the Lions vs Seahawks the other night, but 90% of the Sunday/Monday night games are simply bad.

The Lions Seahawks game was awful it just had a exciting finish

Either way, people who are biased toward offense or defense are always going to have different opinions on the quality of a sport/game. For you, watching a receiver grab 6 catches for 100 yards is poppin. For me as a defensive player, watching a corner lock down his man is just as exciting.

Not to mention injuries play a major role. How many teams have actually trotted out all 22 starters this year? How many teams have even trotted out 11 full time starters on one side of the ball?

If anything, the only truly mediocre product in the NFL right now are kickers. Moving the extra point back has exposed a lot of check grabbers.

I think basically eliminating training camp is a big part of the sloppy play and penalties, especially early. These guys barely practice anymore.

You want it to be predictable as the NBA?

The NFL's parity is overrated. Tom Brady JUST won his 4th Superbowl in his 6th Superbowl appearance, and he did it against a Seahawks team that had just won the Superbowl the previous year against Peyton Manning in his 3rd Superbowl appearance. In other words,the team I root for sucks(The Dolphins) and I have to watch the same teams dominate the AFC every year. The NBA's lack of parity isn't any worse than the NFL to me. Plus, the Heat actually win titles.
