Am I the only person who can't get into James Bond 007 movies?

The last flick made a billion breh. I don't think they're seeing it how you see it

Next you'll be telling me that Justin Bieber is worth listening to for the same reason.

Just because a product sells well doesn't mean you have to drink the Kool Aid too. James Bond has been a steady flow of rehashed cliches since the 80s... it hasn't been anywhere near cool since the end of the Cold War.

People so proud of their low standards. :lolbron:

Some people just cant get into Bond films...i get it...:ehh:

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the GOAT 007 film to me. George Lazenby catches alot of shyt for his portrayal of Bond but I think that mainly comes from following someone as iconic as Da Gawd Sean Connery was according to some older people I've spoken to.
My grandmother, rest her soul, was a huge Bond fan so as a kid, I'd watch the late movies of these on tv with her. The classics are better for me in an intrinsic and critical way.
Lazenby and Dalton were playing the role gritty long before Craig came along but never really get the credit for it like Craig does now.

1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
2. Thunderball
3. From Russia With Love
4. Casino Royale
5. The Living Daylights
6. License To Kill
7. Octop*ssy
8.Goldeneye
9. Skyfall
10. Diamonds Are Forever

With the exception of Octop*ssy, I found the Roger Moore films to be a little too silly to fully appreciate. However, Moore's joints had the dopest title songs.:wow:

No the point im making is that its the highest grossing flick breh so the "formula" that you're decrying isn't formula at all because if it was, the grosses wouldn't increase. People would be bored with the same thing decade after decade. The beauty of the franchise is that it constantly reinvents itself with every iteration of the character. You can't say it hasn't been "cool" since the 80s if the last one is the highest grossing one and one of the most critically acclaimed ones; the facts disagree with that statement. Now if you want to say it's not cool to you? Cool breh, that's a personal taste thing and you're entitled to that but that broad statement makes no sense because the facts aren't on your side

I'm not much of a bond fan either. I remember watching them all the time when I was young but I guess the character doesn't do anything for me these days. Skyfall wasn't bad but wasn't a flick I can immediately watch again. I usually check them out at some point, the newer films I mean.

@MartyMcFly You mean you need it specifically pointing out that when someone makes a ranty post on a forum about the quality of a movie they're expressing their own opinion? :troll:

Keep those feelings in check, son.

There aren't any FACTS when it comes to enjoyment of art... it's all personal opinion. I'm giving mine, just like OP asked for. In my opinion, James Bond is trash and people that stan it have low standards for entertainment. It's cool. I like Professional Wrestling and lots of people would say the same about that.

James Bond is a global cash cow that will continue to be milked until long after we're dead, but that really means dikk all when it comes to my opinion of it, which is what the OP asked for... you really don't need to get upset about my opinion of anything; I'm just some anonymous person on the Internet you'll never meet. I agreed with OP, you didn't. Keep it moving, breh.

Breh, lol if you don't like it you don't like it which is what I said, but to make a broad statement like you did doesn't make sense when facts aren't on your side. That's like me saying Beyonce isn't hot anymore when she clearly is. If I don't like her music, that's one thing, but I can't sit here with a straight face and say she isn't popular or hasn't been popular since 2003 or whatever year I want to throw out there. It's the same discussion we have on here about comic book movies; some people are into them some people aren't but no one is arguing that they aren't popular and don't rule the box office. I'm not upset at all breh, you're a grown ass man and you like what you like, I just felt like the opinion of him not being cool since the 80s was short sighted on your part since as of right now, on a pop culture level, he's as cool as he's been since the 60s

one of the Daniel Craig ones, probably the first one he was in. even if the gadgets aren't a big part of it these days the storylines and situations they portray are just corny to me. it's not my kind of action movie, these days it just seems like wannabe Bourne.

I didn't ever say anything about whether it was popular or not. Of course it's popular. I know it's popular. I live in the world. I have ears. People love James Bond. But then people love Mumford & Sons and Coldplay too, so I figure popularity isn't a subject worth discussing for anyone but A&R and studio execs.

It's mainstream popularity is why the OP wasn't sure if anyone else felt the same.

Clearly anything I said in reply to the OP is a reason why I can't get into James Bond despite everyone else managing it just fine, but just so you're not confused about those broad statements...

I haven't found jokes like "Oh, I thought Christmas only came once a year" funny since I saw Carry On Camping when I was 9.
I don't see what's so special about rolling out scantily clad women when the world is full of them in 2015. Even Game of Thrones has better women than James Bond these days.
I don't think James Bond has embodied anything that I think is cool during my lifetime.
I, despite being a real-life gadget-and-tech Stan haven't ever gone "ooooh" at a James Bond creation.
I haven't been impressed by special effects anywhere since CGI took over. At some point in the late 90s I figured they could now do whatever they wanted given enough time and budget and I haven't really been impressed since.

This is the most I've discussed James Bond in about 20 years.:mjlol:

Lowkey, I always loved James Bond 007 Cinematic Music/Score:stylin::dj2::ahh:

...instead of its slowburner grandiose plot:yeshrug:

Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever makes the cypher complete:lawd:

I feel that but they aren't making those type of jokes anymore breh lol. and the new ones have rarely used CGI..Die Another Day is the one in the series that uses the most CGI but before then and since then, it's been sans CGI for the most part unless it was absolutely necessary.

And yeah they haven't made those type of terrible puns since the Brosnan era and that's a terrible flick for the most part anyway
