I didn't ever say anything about whether it was popular or not. Of course it's popular. I know it's popular. I live in the world. I have ears. People love James Bond. But then people love Mumford & Sons and Coldplay too, so I figure popularity isn't a subject worth discussing for anyone but A&R and studio execs.
It's mainstream popularity is why the OP wasn't sure if anyone else felt the same.
Clearly anything I said in reply to the OP is a reason why
I can't get into James Bond despite everyone else managing it just fine, but just so you're not confused about those broad statements...
I haven't found jokes like "Oh, I thought Christmas only came once a year" funny since I saw Carry On Camping when I was 9.
I don't see what's so special about rolling out scantily clad women when the world is full of them in 2015. Even Game of Thrones has better women than James Bond these days.
I don't think James Bond has embodied anything that
I think is cool during my lifetime.
I, despite being a real-life gadget-and-tech Stan haven't ever gone "ooooh" at a James Bond creation.
I haven't been impressed by special effects anywhere since CGI took over. At some point in the late 90s I figured they could now do whatever they wanted given enough time and budget and I haven't really been impressed since.
This is the most I've discussed James Bond in about 20 years.
