This is why mainstream comic book team ups are generally bad ideas. Its more obvious in Batman/Superman comics. Superman forgets half of his abilities or Batman tries to box a 10 ft dude who just leveled a building, no prep time.

I think the thing that superman lacks is an understanding of human instinct, so for batman he wins everytime. Batman looks at sups like an animal, a stupid one, so its like a bear is threatening but a retarded bear at that, you could find a way to manage, and trick him. Super man being the most obvious. Instead of claws hes uses laser eye, cold breath, or super punch, batman always does some new shyt to beat his villians and they never guess it so they lose also. He gets beat by dudes who routinely out wit him.

Lex is just a hair below bruce on technical skill, but his obsession with superman fogs his mind. I have no doubt that a clear thinking lex wins, be hes always on some "i dont need to just win i need superman to kiss my toes" fakkit shyt.

Edit: to add on. Say lets imagine clark went out and learned something like martial arts, wouldnt that make superman invincible? But no, hes too hell bent on being average humanoid that he doesnt do anything except punch harder. Darkseid wouldnt know what to do with superman doing karate

A lot of martial arts are based on reaction and anticipation, as fast as he(superman) is he doesn't need that. Anything a human can do or any not blessed with super speed should look like a toddler trying to swipe at you. Dude's reaction time should put pretty much anything to shame. But they seriously nerf supes. Because if his powers are used like they should or if he doesn't hold back then nothing should be able to defeat him outside of say a master magician. I think they realized that that is what made him boring. Plus as far as him not being a genius, look at his fortress of solitude and tell me he ain't some next level genius.
