Am I the only one who can't watch procedurals anymore?

Procedurals are borderline insulting to the audience. I don't get how people can tune in every week to watch episodes that are gonna have the same general structure with a predictable resolution. Like, I used to like shows like "Burn Notice" and "Suits" when they first came out until I would start getting bored because of how similar the episode structures are every week.

So whats the film room's opinions on "Serials Vs. Procedurals"? :ehh:

I used to love Law and Order... and even Bones was fun for a minute.

Maybe we just tired of shyt being so realistic, and need to lean on some true make-believe, like sci-fi and superhero shyt.

Doesn't it have a main ongoing storyline though?

That doesn't remove it from the realm of being a procedural. Most procedurals have an overaching storyline even with the cases of the week. For example, "Burn Notice" kept Michael Westen trying to get his job back in the earlier seasons while still doing his thing as a PI.

I enjoy a good procedural show with no overarching story. I don't make a habit of watching them from week to week but if nothing else is on and a rerun of a show like law and order is on I can watch it without any background info and no need to watch the next episode.

These shows aren't made for following weekly or binging. They are fast food shows built for syndication.
