star wars ain't sci-fi cause it don't take place on earth and it doesn't take place in our world. it is a fairy tale, once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away.

it has more in common with something like lord of the rings than it does blade runner.

i watched all 6 movies earlier this year for the first time

i actually liked the most recent trilogy more than the original

overall i would say only 2 of the 6 movies are good and the series as a whole is extremely overrated

26 and ive never seen any of them either.

Kinda don't feel the need to since they've been alluded to in every part of pop culture. I got the general plot down.

I can understand liking the newer ones more than the og if you are just now watching them. We are now accustomed to eye candy with top notch fx and stunts, and episodes 1-3 are far superior visually and action wise. The light saber battles are awesome in these and in the og trilogy the saber duels look like old ladies fighting with umbrellas in comparison.
When it comes to the og trilogy, you just had to have grown up with it before film making got taken to the next level. But story and acting wise you can't even compare

Yeah the lightsaber battles in the prequels look a lot better but outside of one fight, there's no emotion in any of them or no character substance or real advancement of story. Whereas every fight in 4-6 means something and has a point and even advances character. I'll take those over the other fights any day of the week

they really aren't though. they look like video games.

the phantom menace opens up with a shuttle asking for permission to land.
the original star wars movie opens up amidst a rebel ship escaping from an imperial star destroyer.

you tell me which sounds more exciting.

You're talking two different things though breh: By visually looking better, that's a production thing but what you're talking about is story if you're asking which sounds more exciting. The prequels, strictly from a production value, do look better but that doesn't mean the movies are better. Something made in 1999-2005 should look better than something made from 77-83

This has nothing to do with visuals bruh. I said the acting and story in the prequel doesn't compare to the og

the prequels look like a ps3 game. the originals look like they were shot on location.

the opening shot of a new hope is still more impressive and more real looking than anything they did in episodes 1-3.

I think it comes and goes as far as which parts are more impressive over the others but that one shot you're talking about is more about composition and story rather than pure visuals which was my point. George created more compelling shots in star wars than he did in damn near any prequel movie but there are things that look better just from a pure eye candy standpoint which is exactly what those movies are
