I remember watching this in a hotel one night a few years ago. I never saw it in the theater.

I fukking loved the movie. The Cinematography was great. The acting was good. I didn't expect much from the story, but I really fukked with this movie hard.

It gets hated on for a weird reason.

I liked it when it dropped and still like it now, very underrated and if the rumours of Jamie Foxx being goofy are true the film might have been even better.
Colin Ferrell said he was so drunk out of his mind that he has no recollection of filming the movie.

I didn’t hate it. I get why the public didn’t respond to it tho. It wasn’t the show they were used to. Miami vice’s first season is more in line with the movie, tonally. But most people think of the latter seasons of the show when they think of Miami vice.

My issue with it, is it’s just kinda boring and overstays its welcome. It’s really flat

My only problem was the use of the live action cameras...:scust: he should have used the regular movie cameras instead of trying to make it look like live tv...:beli: it would have looked much better...

Oh I disagree, homie. His live HD look is awesome.

It looked amazing for collateral... :ehh: but I felt weird watching a live action looking miami vice, it ruined the aesthetic look for my tastes...:hhh: Miami Vice should have been shot like a regular hollywood film, not a student documentary...:mjlol:

I liked it. He wanted it to look like a documentary on an actual police squad.

In Miami Vice's 5 seasons, there are maybe 5 goofy episodes though, and many of them have comic relief, but almost the entire series is a pitch black mediation on crime and hopelessness, and if anything the later seasons got wierder and darker

A serial killer injecting women with pure cocaine

Crockett using a dating service to catch a serial killer castrating men

All the failed romanced and murdered girlfriends, it's a very, very dark show. I think many people who never really watched the show, and only knew the reference as outdated 80's cop show, would think it was light and goofy. That is probably the direction the latest update will go in, which is nothing like the show.

I am rewatching episodes out of order, here and there, and the style, the music, the direction is all incredible, yeah, it sags in some parts, in terms of all long running cop shows, as in the suffering is just overwhelming, but there are so many moments of pure cinematic thrill and beauty, that speedboat on the ocean to Tina Turner, In The Air Tonight, Simply Redd, (lol) I Don't Care Anymore, (lol) all the music montages really defined 90's and 2000's television. The final frame of a dejected, demoralized Crockett/Tubbs, as another innocent person is killed, or another personal relationship is torn apart. I'd say a show has never been as stylized as Miami Vice.

That was made in 2006? Damn time flies.

But yeah I saw it in the theatre and loved the cinematography.

I'm actually surprised all y'all liked the cinematography too because no one was really talking about this movie back then.
