Just finished the second season...

I’ll preface this by saying that hands down Luke Cage is by FAR my favorite of the Netflix Marvel shows. I don’t fukk with Punisher and I couldn’t bring myself to care enough about Jessica Jones to bore myself through her second season. Iron Fist was Awful, and Daredevil was good, i liked both seasons. Defenders was atrocious.

The first season of Luke Cage was great, my only misgivings were the death of Cotton Mouth and some instances of wooden acting. So coming into the second season i was looking for a great villian and more charisma from Mike Colter

PROS

1).First and foremost i gotta give props to Theo Rossi. I absolutely LOATHED his character in season 1 and for the first three episodes of season 2. He didn’t seem believable at ALL as a gangster who would have anyone shook enough to follow orders from him. But around the middle part of the season dude really stepped it up a notch. His interactions with his homeboy (even though they went the brokeback route) came off sincere. His conflict in seeing Mariah become a psychopath was sold very well, and by the season’s end i had done a 180 on how i felt about his character.

2). If there were any justice in the world, Alfre Woodard would be winning awards for ber portayal of Mariah Stokes. She was fukking awesome in damn near every scene. fukking INCREDIBLE acting.

3). Expanding on the secondary charcaters within Harlem, both the regular folks and the petty villians was a great touch. I liked how they fleshed out Luke’s small entourage and gave depth to DW, Suga, and Luke’s father.

4). Mike Colter did a great job in adding depth and conflict to Luke. He really sold the “relunctant and tired hero” role well so that when he made the decison that he did at the end it felt believable.

5). I never felt the momentum slowed down as it did in season 1. Bushmaster was a fantastic “villian” and they did a good enough “Kilmonger lite” type backstory ln him to where I was rooting for him. I hope he returns in season 3

CONS

1).The daughter Tilda. They should have brought her in later in the season because they simply didn’t know what to do with her for a good 3-4 episodes, to the point where she was basically restating the SAME dialogue beats over and over (how many “Goodbye Mother” moments do we need?)

2). Danny Rand. fukk him and keep him AWAY from my black excellence tv series.

3).Clair. She got annoying REAL quick and the show did a great service by not having her hanging around being an annoying ass mother hen.

4). I felt like they could’ve done a BIT more with Bushmaster’s exit. It felt kind kf sudden and forced even though i know they wanted to keep him around for the third season.

All in all i rate it a strong 8.5/10. Can’t wait for season 3.

@MartyMcFly what did you think?

Because all she got from her mom was an old keyboard. She gave away a piece of property that had been in their family for generations to some guy that she hated over her own daughter.

That to me was a interesting scene considering the fact that her mom basically gave 2 Sh!ts about her yet she was so emotional over it. If anything she shouldn’t have wanted anything from her.

She didn't want anything from her at first, but when she started to accept who she is and where she comes from she wanted it all.

:jbhmm: That is a pretty twisted irony there. But I can’t imagine why would she even want her named attached to the woman whom was responsible for so much bloodshed. In a weird way, her mother did her a favor.
