Based off a teaser:rudy: probably losing your head over the one scene where hes surrounded by fire.
Yeah he's still wearing the hoodie in all the gun shot scenes. They try to spin it like its statement you know, Trayvonn and all that. But it's really just to save money because you would have to cgi the bullets bouncing off of him if he had just a t shirt. The hoodie allows for practical effects.

Yeah i think you laid it out before never even thought about it as a cost saving measure as i watched, was too wrapped up in the "hands up dont shoot" symbolism. Their trickery is too thorough :snoop:

I think Mike is a fine actor, the problem is that he's been forced to play the Bendis version of the character. Bendis doesn't know how to write black people even though I think he has his heart in the right place.

Luke Cage is supposed to be a bit of a show-off and a big personality

They got to find away to let him show off but not be super corny or a Sambo type

Luke Cage Season 2 Will Be Darker, Mike Colter Tells the Comic Book Men

Colter told the guys that season 2 is going to have “a lot more bad-assery. A lot more fighting. I’m going to be squared off against a lot of people. So, it’s going to be fun.” When asked if it’s going to be darker than season 1, Colter said, “yeah, a little darker than season 1. It’s so relevant that it feels like this is what would happen if superheroes were walking around the street. This is what it would be like.”

They also give some history on the character, the teams he’s been in, and when/why he went from being just Luke Cage to Power Man — which started in issue 17 of his original series. Walt Flanagan and Mike Zapcic are both confessed long-time fans of Luke Cage.

Nah, it's all Coulter. His whole delivery and aura is corny. And he's the only one like that in the show. Turk got more style to him in like 3 secs of screen time.

he lacks swag and sounds like a dude from the burbs thats acting hood but corny isnt really the word i'd use. Hes more phoney and awkward than anything..But do we really need a legit potrayal of cage in 2018? A black speakin in ebonics rife with grammatically errors? No thanks.. Hes an embarrassment in the comics so if the tone aint going to be played for comedy ala black dynamite then F that.

You can be smooth without sounding like a phony. He doesn't sound authentic at all, especially someone who grew up in the hood. Hell, Misty & Pops sounded authentic

He grew up in a more rural/country spot. St Matthews isn't too far from Orangeburg in SC. It's vastly majority black out there though. He's not an "urban" nikka.

In the series canon he didn’t grow up in the hood though. He was the favored son of a Southern preacher.

Luke Cage' Season 2 Adds Annabella Sciorra as Villain With 'Punisher' Ties

First, there was Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali). Then there was Diamondback (Eric LaRay Harvey). For his next antagonist, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) will go up against someone without much of a vicious nickname to speak of, but a mean streak all the same: Rosalie Carbone, a mobster with ties to a very different Marvel vigilante.

The second season of Netflix's Luke Cage, one of six original Marvel shows on the streaming service, has added The Sopranos and G.L.O.W. veteran Annabella Sciorra to its cast as a new villain, the aforementioned Carbone. She's described by Netflix as a dangerous downtown criminal underworld power player with an eye, and an agenda, toward Harlem.

With that in mind, Luke Cage fans can expect Sciorra's Carbone to go head to head against Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard), once again returning to the Marvel-Netflix universe for the second season of the Mike Colter-starring series. In season one, Mariah was reconciling with the fine line between doing whatever was necessary for her neighborhood, and going way above and beyond any ethical limits. She veered decisively toward the latter category by the end of the season, long after killing her cousin Cottonmouth in a fit of rage, and joining forces with Diamondback and Shades (Theo Rossi) in the process. If Rosalie Carbone is entering the series with an agenda in Harlem, she's going to have to match wits with Mariah first.

What's more, Rosalie Carbone is a character with roots in Marvel Comics lore, and a connection to another vigilante at the heart of his own Netflix series: Frank Castle, alias The Punisher. In the comics, Castle and Carbone have a brief fling, which ends once she realizes his true identity as the Punisher; not exactly a match made in heaven, and certainly a match that could send her to hell depending on Castle's mood.

Does the arrival of Rosalie Carbone in Luke Cage mean Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) isn't far behind? It's not likely, as the highest-profile players rarely crossover between Marvel's Netflix offerings; then again, rumors persist that The Defenders will not return for a second season, which could open up the possibilities for bigger crossovers within the specific Netflix shows moving forward.

With that said, it's likelier that Luke Cage (Colter) himself could wind up occupying a similar space as Castle in the comics, romantic entangled or at least pursued by Carbone. Indeed, the description for the new season of Luke Cage offers a hint that could lead the hero in such a morally gray direction: "With the rise of a formidable foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain."

In any case, the full extent of Sciorra's role as Rosalie Carbone will make its known when season two of Luke Cage drops June 22 on Netflix in its 13-episode entirety.

All the more reason to watch the next season of LC. Tony's GOAT side-piece on The Sopranos.
