From what I gather the criticism from him and those like-minded individuals is that she's trying to shoehorn russiagate into this moment to divert the energy and bring it back to an issue that is over and that he was summarily right about. It all seems fairly vague. We know that foreign governments have always been interested in black, or left-wing "insurgent" movements, but so are the cops and The Feds for that matter.

I know he's anti-Russiagate, but I'm not sure of his specific position on Russian influence operations in the US Black community.

From what I remember they jumped the gun most likely because it validated their positions. No one knew how inaccurate the memo was to the actual report came out.
I saw that more as a defense of their journalism cred (a victory lap, I told you so) more so than any kind of left cover for the Trump team.

My same issue with Joy Reid pushing the idea that #ADOS is Russian Bots just because it's not towing the DNC/Liberal line about the needs of black voters.

It's not all Russian bots. But the signal was at some point boosted by Russian bots. Which is how influence campaigns work.
