Tore it twice but only needed surgery once?

Itll shi t, cause taking weight off puts lets stress on ure knees...but in order to lose weight, u need to be up moving around more, which the knee isnt letting u do :rudy:

mind f uck
The first tear was a partial tear. They sent me to therapy and told me not to play on it for at least 6 months

I didn't listen :guilty: and aggravated it a month and a half later

Then it got better until i hurt it on new years day 2006. Had surgery the 3 weeks later and it was getting much better after the surgery. I had started running again (used to run a lot from military days) but rarely played ball.

Then came the car accident that fukked up my back which lead to the weigh gain thus stressing the knee again. These days if i run (jog) it tightens my back and hurts for weeks at a time. It used to hurt when i played ball but its gotten much better. I wanna try and jog again cause i miss the sh!t but I'm scared of the pain especially when i have a couple of trips to Europe coming up soon and id hate to be on a 9 hour flight with back pain:to:

THe worst part of these injuries is really the mental part. The first few times i played bal after the surgery i remember i was always scared when i would jump because i was constantly thinking about LANDING PROPERLY. It takes a while until you stop thinking about it.

I hear that

mine is a total mind f uck because its not really an injury that people "come back" from. I could only find 2 people in the NFL that had it...ended both careers, and the one guy shot himself :stopitslime:

Its the same that happened to Sean Payton in that sideline collision last year. Some bullsh it

Did you ever work on strengthening the muscles around your knee properly?

To some degree yes. I think i could do better because its still not as strong as the other one but strong enough.

Only time i feel minor pain is when it's extremely cold (like 15 deg and below). For some reason that affects it a little bit. Other than that aside from the area where it was cut being a little bit sensitive to hard contact it's fine

Tore my left ACL... twice.

had surgery in 2006. haven't been the same since. I still play from time to time but I'm much slower than ever. The weight gain isn't helping either.

When i play if I'm not wearing the proper knee brace the knee gets kind stiff but no real pain and it goes away after about 6 to 8hours.

i feel you on that

i tore mine in november 2010 and i was 6'6 250 at that time ( though i blame my footwear more than my weight) and I foregoed the surgery for rehab.pt declared that I could play ball..so i wored out and played ball pretty pain free until around june 2010 and i had worked myself down to 225...in june 2010 is when i had an mri once it started hurting again revealing the tear and a cyst...i was still ignorant and kept playing on it till september when I just said fukk it..in september money was tight and i stopped playing ball for a few months and basically the pain went away kuz my weight was going down due to not eating much..by this year i was working out the leg (presurgery) and had got it to a point where it was extremely flexible and pretty strong but I would still favor my injured leg when i tested it out and ran (3 or 4 times over the last couple months)...My health card came in i said fukk it scheduled the surgery immediately and now its time to restart the rocess over and see if I still have my nba athleticism

now at 215 I feel the chnaces of it reoccuring are much smaller due

I'm going to stay humble that the worst I did was sprain an ankle

Broke my Fibula nearly two years ago while hooping, 3 month recovery after surgery...The Titanium support and screws are permanent.

Tore my Achilles about 7 months ago while hooping too smh, I got the outlet pass and was pushing the fastbreak and then it felt like someone kicked me in the back of my left ankle :why: but when I realized no one was near me I immediately had the :snoop: look...Also 3 month recovery after surgery.

Good thing i'm still young and recovery has been good. I just started playing again last month and I make sure to warm up real good beforehand instead of just stretching.

permanant? does it cause u problems? Could u get it out if u wanted to?

My orthopedic surgeon first said he recommended leaving mine in...but then agreed to take it out when I was complaining about the tightness/stiffness. Just got mine out after a year.

My surgeon also recommended leaving them in so that's what we did, but yeah i feel you on that (nh) kind of wish I did have them removed because when the weather gets cold :wow: It's real stiff when I get up in the morning. Besides that everything is straight, Just trying to get my endurance back now :noah:
