Not everyone got Eagles level of O-Line

Pure pocket passers only work when you got Pro Bowlers/All-Pros all over the O-Line

Favre/Brady/Peyton/Brees/Rivers were not having to go outside the pocket, or have to really step-up into it as much.

GMs/Coaches aren't focusing on the O-Line anymore for some reason
Depends on how fast they process/read the defense.I saw Kurt Warner almost win a Superbowl playing behind an average to slightly below average O line in AZ.He was a Wiz at recognizing coverages & getting rid of the ball rapid fire style.

Being a dual QB should obviously be a higher demanding job. As in you need to be good at both, not mediocre at both like some of the guys have started this season.

Think of how many "pure pocket" quarterbacks have started despite being absolute trash. Even in this era. This just aren't a large number of elite NFL quarterbacks to go around.

Obviously, if you're a dual threat, then you can get away with being a bad passer for even longer than the crappy "pure pocket" passers were able to do it.

We're gonna sit up here and say "We'll that's different" cause he's doesn't have top end speed and isn't Kyler or Lamar with how he makes plays with his legs.
Mahomes not really a dual threat
He does run sometimes but he's more in the mold of like an Aaron Rodgers. They will scramble and run to pick up a first down but they are looking to pass like 9/10x

Rarely do they run design runs for him, it's almost always trying to extend plays or just pick up a few yards for a 1st

Ironic considering the play of that game was a pick 6 on the goalline where he obviously didn't process/read fast enough.

Yet last year with the season on the line...what he do? Threat means you can do it not necessarily that you do it all the time. Nothing is more stressful for a defense than a guy breaking contain and he can either get yds with his legs or make a big play passing.

As a Rams fan, id kill for a dual threat guy and I love Stafford.

In modern times, having a stellar and healthy offensive line is a luxury few teams can afford. Which increases the need for a QB to have the ability to escape and extend the play. Statues like Matthew Stafford are insanely efficient when they have protection, but damn near useless when they dont.
