I think I might be the only guy in this world that liked Green Lantern and wouldn't mind seeing a sequel. :yeshrug:

Reynolds is a likeable guy but he's just not major star material.

The problem in Hollywood in general is that every year there are more and more blockbusters coming out, but the amount of true charismatic (and talented!) leading men hasn't changed or has even diminished. Back in the 90s you often had only one, maybe two, big summer blockbusters a year, divided over five or six actors (Will Smith, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, maybe a couple more), who all had relatively high-budgeted (but not blockbuster) action or thriller movies they could do on the side.

Compare that to this year where there's like 20 big budget movies coming out this summer, and twice or even thrice as many already in production for the upcoming years. Where are they going to get their leading men from if every studio is making three or four of these movies? By scraping the bottom barrel, which has lead to agents more aggressively pushing every good looking guy (n/h) as the next big star. Sam Worthington, Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer, Chris Hemsworth, Henry Cavill, Chris Pine, a lot of these guys won't make it and the ones who look like they might (the latter three) are tied into huge commercial franchises, and it has yet to be seen if they can carry movies on their own and thus, if their career will hold up once they leave those franchises.

This is also why guys like Reynolds, Cooper or Gosling get bigger opportunities, with a big difference being that Cooper and Gosling are actually turning a lot of those opportunities down to work on more intimate and/or personal projects that will up their profiles as actors.
This man knows what hes talking about.

Anyone else see those RIPD commercials and instantly think "Men In Black ripoff"???

Yeah, it was the first thing that I thought, but funny enough, I still had a bit of interest in seeing it nonetheless. Ionno if I'd see it in theaters (tho my niece has been nagging me about it, so if she can't go with friends, I'd go with her I suppose :yeshrug: ) but I'd def. watch on netflix or something.

Also, I'm surprised that folks are gunning at Reynolds being the star of RIPD (and to blame for its subsequent failure), when I figured that Jeff Bridges would be more the star since he's the bigger actor here (and if he can't save the movie, not many others could either). If anything, he's (Bridges) actually what had me interested in the movie mostly since he's a great actor. But yeah, the movie's biggest problem is being too obviously derivative of M.I.B. I actually liked the concept a bit (slightly similar to Dead Like Me a lil bit).

I like Reynolds :yeshrug:

Green Lantern fukked him up imo. I feel like that wasn't his fault though. He looked the part. Whoever wrote the script for that film though...:snoop:

That shyt was awful!! :damn: Also they fukked him up when he was playing Deadpool. That wasn't his fault neither. He played Wade Wilson really well and then the studio went with Baraka-pool. :beli:

Reynolds is definitely having a bad summer.
He hasn't hit Taylor Kitsch levels yet but I figure if he has a few more bombs then he will be doomed to supporting status forever.

His biggest mistake was that Wolverine movie and that Green Lantern shyt

They ruined Deadpool and then point blank everyone knows he's not Green Lantern, he was born to play The Flash.

Flash and Deadpool. It's that simple. Who the fukk is his agent?? The minute I seen those scripts, especially the Wolverine one I woulda been like yeah nah...

I'd much rather see him play Deadpool than Flash.
