I enjoyed Buried and anyone who doesn't like Just Friends is a derelict. I'll check out RIPD once that BluRay RIP is available though.

Im far from a fan of em, but I still don't see the hate that some of y'all "dudes" have for duke on this site. He's been in some decent-to-good flicks and some terrible ones. Not the greatest actor in the world (and I've never seen anyone's overration of such), but hardly the worst either. I see the TS's mention of him being "pretty" and judging by said TS's :hamster: history, I'd say his infatuation and angst towards him must be some sort of feeling of being threatened aesthetically or something, why, I do not know.

Just the same, I don't get some of ya'lls boycrush on Ryan Gosling either. He's a pretty good actor no doubt, but that hardly explains the near lust levels of mention y'all be having for him either. Seeing that once again the TS mentioned him in his OP and that both guys are seemingly considered sex symbols for women in the media, all conclusive evidence points to said TS being two times the faq.

Hear me out.

Imagine Ryan Reynolds doing every role Keeanu Reeves has ever played(excluding Neo and Johnny Mnemonic who are robots anyway). Doesn't it make them at least 40% better? Especially Constantine. Man fukk Reeves for that.

Reynolds is a likeable guy but he's just not major star material.

The problem in Hollywood in general is that every year there are more and more blockbusters coming out, but the amount of true charismatic (and talented!) leading men hasn't changed or has even diminished. Back in the 90s you often had only one, maybe two, big summer blockbusters a year, divided over five or six actors (Will Smith, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, maybe a couple more), who all had relatively high-budgeted (but not blockbuster) action or thriller movies they could do on the side.

Compare that to this year where there's like 20 big budget movies coming out this summer, and twice or even thrice as many already in production for the upcoming years. Where are they going to get their leading men from if every studio is making three or four of these movies? By scraping the bottom barrel, which has lead to agents more aggressively pushing every good looking guy (n/h) as the next big star. Sam Worthington, Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer, Chris Hemsworth, Henry Cavill, Chris Pine, a lot of these guys won't make it and the ones who look like they might (the latter three) are tied into huge commercial franchises, and it has yet to be seen if they can carry movies on their own and thus, if their career will hold up once they leave those franchises.

This is also why guys like Reynolds, Cooper or Gosling get bigger opportunities, with a big difference being that Cooper and Gosling are actually turning a lot of those opportunities down to work on more intimate and/or personal projects that will up their profiles as actors.

I'm even gonna give him credit for "safe house". we all know denzel carried that movie. it would have made money with or without ryan reynolds.
