Probably something on a ranking scale where you can climb the ladder faster by beating a stronger opponent. So if you're #50 and you beat #20 you go up higher in the ranks than when you beat #40. That way a 1-2-3 Kid style upset can push a guy right back into a midcard or upper card.

Rankings systems have never and will never work in wrestling.. the whole "presenting it like a real sport" shyt is not going to work in wrestling in 2019 when everyone knows it's not.

NJPW & WCW are/were both treated with legitimacy and never were on that "sports entertainment" shyt

Ranking systems never lasted long and were mostly a lip service kinda thing. If they made it work it would help make challengers and champions make sense in a storytelling capacity, as opposed to people getting title shots for no reason or just because like WWE used to do with Cena & Roman. It’s a vehicle to create & facilitate storylines

NXT has multiple benefits that the main roster shows don't get.

Namely it's taped, and months at a time are taped over a day or two, which means things HAVE to be thought out and planned and you can't just wing shyt and change everything last second on a whim. But even if you do, you also have weeks/months to make it make sense in editing anyway. It doesn't happen as much now, but things that bomb or are botched can be retaped or cut out all together. They also have quarterly events to build to instead of one every 3 weeks, and only having to fill an hour a week instead of 2/3 means there's no need to run endless rematches just to fill time. And since talent gets called up, feuds are able to have a sense of finality.

I'm sure Raw/SD would be better if they ran like NXT, even with Vince in control.
