That'd be a mistake. The only one I could even think of is Bleacher Report which has terrible servers or if they actually got it on HBO Now that'd be cool but I doubt HBO would want wrestling on their service.

HBO just got rid of boxing after a long time, there's no way they are taking on pro wrestling in its place

Sounds like it’s gonna be on a OTT platform instead of basic cable

Nah they shouldn’t make that move out the gate. Take the prove it deal from turner and air on tnt or tbs. get the ratings and then renegotiate like @richaveli83 said. Turner would be taking a huge risk on them with no actual track record of success. If aew believes they got the juice, then give it a shot

There’s actually a lot of OTT platforms out there for sports now. ESPN+, DAZN, Hulu. I haven’t ever used BR Live but if they couldn’t handle the demand for Tiger vs Mickelson, yikes

I wonder if they can do what bellator does and air a subset of shows on OTT platforms (they’re getting $90 mil for 7 shows a year for the next 7 years and their cards are pretty much garbage) and still put out shows just for basic cable. That would be an ideal scenario for them.

Hm. That would be dope. But they gotta use the basic cable plan to obtain the viewers who are willing to purchase the OTT. One has to feed into the other

Yep they would have to do that to drive subscription numbers. They’ve done a good job maintaining interest with a niche audience. If they can do that with a basic cable show, that would be impressive.

Honestly I can see the benefits for a timebuy. It’s not like they can’t afford it either

I am believing Meltzer and JR on this until someone else proves otherwise. Yes, it would be a risk to go All In :manny: on AEW but cable is slowly dying and they need live sports/live entertainment on their air and AEW has shown that there is some demand there.. we don't know how much.

But I'll say this. At one point TNA had close to 2 million viewers per week on Spike TV. If AEW got anywhere close to to that number they'd be worth well into the hundreds of millions in TV contracts based on this current TV climate.
