Movie was cool, I liked it but (without spoiling anything):

1. It felt a bit too pandery (I know that's not a word, but work with me) with all the call backs and fan service.

It was cool at first but by the end I was kinda rolling my eyes. Especially when that line was said. I legit hit the

2. By the time it was over I got the vibe that Fede Alvarez was forced to tie together damn near every movie in the franchise. Like, the studio made him do it before they'd green light the movie.

Some parts worked but others it felt tacked on, especially in the 2nd half.

I notice that too and that got me hyped!!

didnt they plot a course to paradise/the planet they set out to go at the end of prometheus? And wasnt that the exploded engineer head in the lab or was that the rat? Im one of the few that loved prometheus and want some explanation as to why something would create these evil a$$ aliens :russ:

So I just rewatched Prometheus to test some of these theories from Romulus

I don’t think the “paradise planet” is the same as the engineer home planet.

But seems like the engineers was worshiping some type of xenomorph figure based on the murals in their ship

I doubt they created them.

Also it seems the black goo is just some type of substance used to create/destroy life depending on how you use it.

Maybe it’s a substance found on the engineer planet (because they were harvesting it) so that would be the key to everything

Maybe it’s the DNA of the OG proto xenomorph GODS? :ohhh:

But let’s not call the Xeno-Cac from Romulous an engineer. He was literally the worst part of the movie :gucci:

And he came from a human/goo mix so that would make him just a regular hybrid :manny:

Nah bruh this is a theater event movie. Especially if you like horror and tension filled flicks.

This imo is a perfect summer blockbuster. I laughed in Deadpool but I was full on attention mode here. Caught myself so engaged I forgot my lady was next to me covering her eyes lmao

The sound was crazy.
Ehh, I’m not a big Alien franchise fan. :ld:

Most of that is dead on. Fan service has really taken its toll and gets in the way of just being original. The biggest flaw this movie has imo are the side characters. No depth. No development.

However this movie for the most part overcame those issues and delivered a fun experience. I don't feel like nitpicking this movie too much because we've had so many Alien movies I just want to be entertained at this point. I think this one was entertaining.

Also, before I forget, what happened in the first few minutes?

I walked in a bit late and the first thing I seen was the younger people jumping robo-breh.

Replace fetch with "Prometheus" and "Covenant" and this is how I feel about those movies:

I read something about Noah Hawley wanting to move away from the Engineer story and focus just on the Xenomorph organism in the Alien: Earth series.

I think the Engineers are important. Even if you base any given sequel strictly on the first movie, the space jockey is obviously transporting them as a bioweapon. It makes sense that they found the natural species somewhere and started juicing it up. But they don't need to be a big part of every film. I'd rather see Ridley do what he wants with that story.

the series sounds interesting, because I think its focusing on different elements of the earlier films than the recent films.

The premise of the black slime/Engineers/etc. is cool but they need to tighten the writing way the f*ck up and come with a coherent mythology for it.

Also the whole "Engineers created life on Earth" subplot was stolen from "At The Mountains Of Madness". It's part of the reason Del Toro couldn't get his movie made.
