AK has always been overrated trash. Perfect example of light bright privilege. She came in with her basic neo soul shyt when girls like Angie Stone, India Arie, Jill Scott were making heat but they don't fit the image. Only songs good by her was when she was carried completely by Kanye West production(you don't know my name) and maxwell da gawd(fire we make)
i liked diary and fallin but you on point.
I'll never understand stans. Hov is my favorite rapper but I don't get all emotional if someone says they don't like his new single or even aren't feeling an entire record. You're conceding that the general, albeit subjective response is on point. The question is, "are you feeling this record", not a review of the artists entire catalog.

What's hurting Alicia Keys the most is she lost her core fanbase. she came up on this "strong woman, support the women" type of vibe and ended up creeping with a married man(swizz beats). when she got confronted on twitter about it she came back with some vague trivial responses like "love has no control" or some $hit like that.
thats why you dont see her collabing with any high profile females anymore cuz they dont wanna scare their fanbases off as well.
Alicia Keys just paid 100 actors to re-enact the wedding scene from Coming to America for Swizz's birthday. She spent $250k on that silly stuff dude....I used to be hella in love with Alicia Keys but her fraudulence and full crossover into bougie-douchebag celebrity stratosphere is shameful.

When Alicia Keys came in the game, Angie Stone, India.Arie, and Jill Scott were all eating. They all got play. The difference is A. Keys just had bigger hits and multi-platinum selling album. Her being light-skinned had nothing to do with it. Lauryn Hill had a bigger album just three years prior.
R&B is genre where there were a lot of women who blatantly made hit records about taking another woman's man (married or not). A lot of people who jumped on the moral high horse was probably guilty of the same.
Alicia Keys isn't collaborating with high profile females because there aren't many left. If we're counting Nicki Minaj as a part of that group, she was featured on Alicia's "Girl On Fire".

Lauryn Hill also had previous exposure with the Fugees. Its obvious Keys attractiveness had a lot to do with getting ahead of her peers. She is not a better artist then any of those women. But she rose ahead because of how she looked. If she was a heavy set dark skin women making that bland music, you think she would have had as much success?
Lauryn Hill's solo album was bigger than both albums she did with The Fugees. Alicia's attractiveness is subjective as is her talent. Whether she's a better artist or more attractive depends on who you ask. She rose ahead because she had songs that connected with different audiences. Alicia had a couple of failed attempts before "Fallin" looking the same as she did when "Fallin" came out.
