Ali just gotta accept the fact that he was never going to be a rap star.

I think this is the thing with him too.

He was done dirty and all that, but he's still looking like he can't accept that what he thought was gonna happen, is just over. Even after Nelly blew, Nelly would be on TV saying that Ali was the "real MC" of the crew and that he was going to be a star. His whole promotion for his first album was about how he was a lyricist and the whole album was gonna have all these ill bars. We never saw that, lol.

Ali and the older members of The Lunatics underestimated Nelly. Some cats may not know or remember that Ali and the old heads saw themselves as the true St Lunatics/group writers and that originally, Nelly was looked at and treated like a Freaky Tah of the group.

The first third of that video in the OP doesnt seem so bad. I didnt finish the rest, but honestly he seems to make sense. He had Nelly sign that bad initial deal to get them studio time and to get their first really hot record out. The free studio time as part of the deal was great for practice and recording in exchange for 0% publishing. The plan being to get attention of a bigger fish who would buy their bad deal out; and thats exactly what happened. Nelly got out of the bad deal and months later he was moving millions of records and that 75k buyout was dust in the wind.

If Nelly could go back, I'll bet he would do the exact same thing again. Maybe this nikka is jealous and maybe Im missing more context because I didnt watch the rest (nor the other videos) but this didn't seem overly vitriolic to me.

Dude literally complaining about not being able to stop the tour bus in 2015.....ALI WAS 45 YEARS OLD THEN!

This is 15 years AFTER Country Grammer dropped and you still dependent on Nelly🤦🏾‍♂️. Has done nothing on his own 23 years later.

And that's after Ali sold all his publishing away on his own in 1998 despite claiming to know the business.

I'm like Nelly, "never in life has anyone said they're not going to Nelly concert if Ali isn't there."

Ali's a good dude.

Met him on the road forever ago, back when the group was active. The thing that he's always spoke on, was the loyalty factor. He was the one from the group that was supposed to be the star, initially. He was the one that led everyone and mentored those dudes. But during that time, he always put crew first. So he wouldn't leave anyone behind to do solo sh*t because he always wanted everyone to eat. His issue, has always been that when Nelly was offered the same opportunity that he turned down, Nelly didn't turn those opportunities down and he went off to have a crazy solo career, rather than focus on making sure everyone else was set too.

This happens a lot in music. Everyone isn't focused on that loyalty. And some dudes will definitely look out for themselves, even if you did the opposite when it came to them. So I don’t think Ali is hating on Nelly, at all. I think he's more upset at the lack of loyalty and how other people had different principles once it came down to deals and money.
Loyalty? Where was the loyalty when the nikka had to record Country Grammer by himself or when nikkas wasn’t showing up to sessions n shyt? Nah. Nelly was motivated. Refused a deal unless they got a deal. Literally has second hand proof of all of this shyt too rather than just bitter words. That nikka was salty cause the lil nikka became the big nikka. Period. All that “turning down” shyt is nikkas playing themselves trust me. I know first hand.

That’s cause the nikka wasn’t done dirty. He was just dirt. Lol
