Nelly made sure the group got a major label deal. Also, wasn’t Ali running Nelly’s label for a long time before he decided to start dissing Nelly about some old shyt?

According to Cardan and Ali, that deal wasn't because Nelly did anything to seal it. Labels just wanted to cash in on his success, so after he blew, they started throwing deals at the group because they were still shopping music for the whole crew. From all these interviews from the dudes in the crew over the past few years, sounds like they stopped f*cking with Nelly after finding out certain sh*t they didn't know for mad long. Sh*t Nelly kept quiet on.

It would be pure charity of Nelly to not take all of the money, late 90a/early 2000 rapper grind was really non-existent. Dudes could get a million bucks up front off a demo and then they made zero of their music and didn’t tour.

But then again if that’s your mans, you might do some charity for them :yeshrug:

In terms of “friendly price” or whatever.

But these grown ass men need to start saying “I willingly signed away all my rights after 7 years in the game, I wanted cash immediately and not grind for mine. I didn’t wanna do like the c00n Cube and not sign and bet on myself cause I was a lazy dude tryna get fast money”.

You should listen to the video that was posted earlier. The interviewer was clearly on Ali’s side, but Nelly explained his side of the story very convincingly.

Ali is the one who convinced the group to sign away their publishing rights to a local label. Nelly bought back his publishing from the label. For some reason, the other guys did not buy their pubs back. Nelly also specifically had a group deal promised in his solo contract as a condition for signing with Universal.

I’m also sure Ali was getting a nice lil check for running Dirty Ent and he got a chance to put out his solo album and his collab album with Gipp.

Even if he missed out on checks from his contributions to Country Grammar, it seems like Nelly made up for it with the shots he gave Ali to put out music and the money he put in his pockets running his label.

:mjlol: …nope, not according to him at least

But I agree Ali is FOR SURE bitter and hating at this point…you can still viscerally sense the ether burning his soul because his album flopped…the president of Derrty was a vanity role created to placate him after he quit the group after his album flopped…it’s 20 years later and he’s basically blaming Nelly going to Europe for 1 week for ruining his entire solo career

Ali just gotta accept the fact that he was never going to be a rap star.

I disagree. St Lunatics were one of the best crews to ever get put on.

Most rappers crews are wack. Murphy Lee had some verses. Ali was probably the least talented rapper.
I’ll draw this line in the sand till the day I die but Murphy Lee should’ve been a star. Should’ve got a solo deal on SoSo Def or something and blew

Ali is not making any sense. He is talking around in circles. How do you work for free all that time? You never discussed compensation?

And by the way, I’ve never bought a Nelly or St Lunatic album. I have no horse in the race. Nelly just makes way more sense than what Ali is talking about.

The two deal thing doesn't work to make folks stars because the people an artist has a deal with first be trying to get in on the new fame.

typical bitter bum who is jealous he was never the "star" of the group and mad he didn't make the most of his role
vlad has tons of interviews with these types overstating their importance and lying about how they got a bad deal when really they were ass
if his pen is supposedly behind a diamond album then ghostwrite for others
he even had an album so its not like he didnt have the opportunity to grab consumers ears

Jermaine Dupri dropped the ball on that. After seeing how Murph did with his beat and vibing with him, he should've made a deal off the strength of that. So So Def would've been the perfect situation for Murph and Jermaine would've had one instead of wasting time with SunN.Y :snoop:
