Y'all are talking about a district the Democratic candidate has won the last 3 elections with at least 70% of the vote and this is a year where everyone is paying attention and everyone knows her name. The only "opposition" is if folks accidentally vote for Crowley and yea he ain't winning.

The 2016 results were 83% Dem 17% Republican.

Hey, u guys think people have a point when they say she should pump her brakes, because she hasn't won the general election yet? It's gotta be a shoe-in for her, right?

I guess she can get back to campaigning next month or in October?

Yes, I don't like it. Just more chance for her to fukk up or be on the opposition's radar for a type they have to game plan for. Sit down on only speak nationally once in awhile.
But Progressive are taking the opposite tact, putting her front and center and having her be a face in all their races.
We will see if they are right .:yeshrug:

She's in a safe blue district and she's still campaigning, trying to get people registered... her emphasis is on the non-voter. Her campaign apparatus is still active in NY and she's been doing stuff there while doing these events..

3 months left until election day. I don't see an issue with it.

Things are safe until they aren't. And what I am referring to is creating enemies and being on the public stage unnecessarily. Is all the campaigning she is doing worth someone from the opposition's parsing her words to weaponize against her or other Progressives? Or someone from the opposition being so annoyed with her they make it their mission to bring her down in some way none of us can currently conceive? Yeah, she's very likely to win her election but there are other things to consider.

Well, the Republicans are always going to weaponize inter-Democratic Party stuff. That's nothing new. I don't think she's trying to create enemies within the Dem Party... all she's doing is telling it like it is... the Party should embrace the positive long-lasting legacies it had from the 20th century. She's had plenty of opportunities to trash the Democrats but she isn't doing that. She's just being a straight shooter.

Her take-downs of the Republicans and right wing framing of issues is masterful.

The media can't stop talking about her. Not her fault. Other progressives invited her to campaign, she isn't parachuting herself into the Midwest uninvited.

It's NYC. It's August 5th. Election is in November.

None of this opposition has been effective and it's not doing anything in NYC. No one will be turning against her like that. The attacks honestly make her look better cuz the opposition ends up looking silly as fukk. They've already thrown everything but the kitchen sink(oh she said something positive about Adam Smith, who the right doesn't even understand anyway, in college/ a coworker of hers ain't like her/ the small little red/blue gaffe). You could argue her traveling everywhere and being a national figure only helps her drum up support in her district to vote for her. Again she's as safe as you can be. It's not winnable period for a Republican b. She's being used more as a symbol of the party by people in other states in an attempt to hurt other candidates like her. That's much more worth pondering about than her seat.

I'd imagine certain folks on the left from her district are probably more interested in critiquing her from the left more than anything (on foreign policy) given DSA folks helping, but that in no way is affecting her. The only obstacle is there being any confusion with Crowley being on the ticket but even that's practically an impossible outcome.

Are people really in here saying she should calm down and pump her breaks?!:dahell:

If anything her going around the country campaigning for other Dems gets her more supporters and notoriety. What’s wrong with her pushing these far left issues when it’s things working class Americans can benefit from? You got most of the money in this country going to the 1% through tax cuts and defense spending.!why can’t we invest in things that’ll make the population smarter, healthier and more well off?

I just think it would be better she did what she is currently doing while being in office. If she says the wrong thing or someone unearths some dirt on her that causes her to lose to either the Republican or Crowley who is still on the ballot it would be a crushing and embarrassing blow to the Progressive cause. Yes, it is unlikely but still better safe than sorry. Doing all this because you won a primary seems like she is jumping the gun IMO.

It’s a democratic district. This isn’t some toss up district.

How many votes did it take to clinch her party nomination? What are the vote totals from the last non election primary/election contests?

Fears are unnatural. And time consuming.

The incumbent she beat is still on the ballot. Therefore, an option for some Dems. What's a few months being off the national stage going to hurt? She can go stupid hard when she is elected.

Crowley lost. If if he wants to play cute that’s on him. If he wants to postpone his private life and fortunes for this term that is his prerogative. But when in the election he’s going to lose so badly he will be begging to be an MTA driver. His life, choice.
