But could you imagine white studio execs telling you that your skin isn't dark enough to play storm? that's my whole thing.. I'd be right there with yall if they hired someone who wasn't black at all for the role, and most people know Halle as storm who has a bit of a lighter complexion so maybe they wanted to keep it in line with that? I think we should judge her by her performance first, but as I've already said, I would've liked to see Lupita as storm.

then why cast people who look like the source material at all if it's just about your acting skills?

why not cast a weasley family full of blonds, why not cast normal height people to play oompa loompas :troll:

It isn't just all about your acting skills, it's a combination of both. Maybe they saw something they liked in her acting ability that offset her not being as dark skinned as the source material, or they're just trying to keep in line with folks idea of Halle Berry being storm (lighter skinned as well). What if she absolutely kills the role? Will you still be pissed about it? Or will you be like "Oh, thats what they saw in her..."

Studio Execs wouldn't necessarily have to tell anyone that though. They could make it clear from the jump what they were looking for. When the NWA movie was looking for actors for certain roles they made it clear what type of people they were looking for.

This isn't about keeping the character the same complexion because Storm was represented like this

Yeah, the studio probably told agents they were looking for female black actresses to play storm. Alexandra is black, halfblack, yes, but still black. No one remembers X-Men origins, when you ask the average movie goer who storm is, they think Halle Berry, they don't think of the child version of storm that was in arguably the shyttiest x-men movie to date.

But to be fair here, I'm not very attached to the source material and comics in general, though I obviously enjoy the films. I'm not saying my opinion is correct, but I think we should look at this from all sides of the equation, and if I were Alexandra I'd probably be pissed off at people telling me I'm not black enough to play the role (despite possibly being the best actress who tried out for the role).

It doesnt matter who plays storm, storms been written terriblydating bacvk to the first one. casting choice wont really change anything

:dead:
That's my main issue with Storm is that they never really had her do anything and she should have been one of the most important characters in all of the X-Men movies besides Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine. Halle Berry wasn't the best choice for Storm but back in 2000 Halle was still winning so naturally she got chosen for the role :yeshrug: however I bet if they knew they would still be using the same cast members for these X-Men movies over the next 15 plus years they would have chosen more carefully

no she wouldn't just from that pic it's obvious she doesn't consider herself just black:camby:

she isn't black enough. not saying your point of view doesn't have merit but this snubbing of darker skinned black women is well documented so miss me with all that.
