My guess is that they cast her to be Storm since they have already cast Halle Berry before. Now if they had cast a darker woman for the part earlier then they would have cast someone darker now. I think they made the best choice they felt they could make. I just hope that she does a better job in this movie than she did in the other movies she was in.

Halle Berry was a bad choice too. Lupita would've been perfect for this role.

No she wouldn't. Lupita has zero screen presence. It would have been Halle Berry 2.0. Storm will never be done right in these movies, they would have you think that she's just some background character when she's actually one of the most authoritative members of the group. They can't even call her by her actual name "Ororo".
