Yup no one is touching Emmitt.

The guys we see nowadays in the last 10-15 years are big/fast and around 6'0" or taller (Peterson, Saquon, Henry, Zeke etc) but they take too many hits to last long enough to touch that record.

Emmitt carried 4,409 times in the regular season and had 515 catches. You got HOF wide receivers with fewer catches than that. Damn near 5,000 touches not even including the playoffs. His TD record might be even harder to catch. Can any RB today hit 20 rush TD's? Saquon could but not in Tush Push Philly.
I think Gurley had 20 rushing TDs or close but Rams forced him out

whats crazy is ovy missed his first season due to the lockout and two other shortened seasons due to another lockout and covid breh might have nearly 1000 goals now

Correct.

There’s also the possible wear and tear factor as well, but I believe he would have shattered the record by now.

Easily by favorite player. I would have loved to see him and Jagr together in their primes.:ohlawd:.

Emmitt is the most underappreciated All time great, maybe ever. His career is folklore, yet all ppl try to do is downplay and doscredit him. The catalyst for three rings and a 4 time rushing champ, but gets treated like hr was just some above average back. Insanely dismissve and disrespectful!!

He’s a lot like Derek Jeter or Tim Duncan in the sense that his game wasn’t necessarily the flashiest, but he had unparalleled longevity and consistency so people can say in the preseason every year “ok here’s what you’re getting from Emmitt. Who else might have a huge year?” and as a result a lot of people don’t think about how good he was.

I respect the comparison, but Emmitt peaked even higher than they did!! 4 rushing titles! Tied with Barry, OJ and ED for second most after Jim Brown. First RB to win a SB as a rushing champion and he did it 3 times!! He held the single season touchdown record at one point. Iconic games, too. The legendary performance in the 93 season finale at the NYG, the opening drive of the second half of SB 28, the monster game at Philly in 93, not long after he ended his holdout. He used to give the Skins that work!! The amazing run at Atlanta in 92, the amazing run at the Raiders in 92, where he was almost beheaded!! I love the run he had against the Skins where Darrell Green ran him down and Emmitt faked like he was gonna cutback, but ran right theough DG for the long touchdown
