I don't know if people realize how special what Ovechkin is doing is.

-He's going to (assuming) to beat the greatest player in NHL history's (Other than the great Bobby Orr, of course) goal scoring record, a record most didn't think would be broken.

-He's doing it during a time where goalies are SIGNIFICATLY better than the 80's and 90's, and are dressed like they are part of a military bomb defusing unit. Just look at goalies from the 80's and 90's compared to today. The skill is much higher today and the equipment is insane.

-He is not just compiling goals over a long period of time. This isn't a situation where a player has a great first fifteen years and then had poor seasons where the numbers add up for the rest of their career.

-You have idiots that say he's just a PP merchant, but less than 1/4 of his goals this year have some on the PP.

He's on pace for 58 goals over an 82 game season. He hasn't been on that pace since 2007-2008. It's crazy.

whats crazy breh we were able to see brady break the td record, bonds break the hr record, ronaldo break the goal record, ovy bought to break gretzky and bron breaking abdul jabbar

these are all records that we all may be dead and gone for before they are ever broken

sidney crosby is the next active player and he has 610
next few years crosby will also be the only the 5th player to score 1800 only two guys have 1900 points and he may get it as well

Dont forget that we watched Emmitt break the all time rushing record. I.cant see anyone surpassing 18,355.

Never!! Not catches, not yards, not touchdowns!! Dont forget the Stockton all time assists and steals titles.
Larry Fitzgerald came within about 120 catches of the record. I think we might see that one broken. Nobody is getting close to yards or touchdowns though. TO & Moss are 3rd and 2nd with 153 and 156 while Jerry has 197 and I think another 11 rushing scores. Total touchdowns isn’t at risk either.

Yup but I'm not even sure about the catches look at guys like julio jones etc, by the time you're 32/33 you're lucky to still be around in the nfl.

Oldest wr in the nfl last year was adam thielen at 34, oldest rb was was 33

Yup no one is touching Emmitt.

The guys we see nowadays in the last 10-15 years are big/fast and around 6'0" or taller (Peterson, Saquon, Henry, Zeke etc) but they take too many hits to last long enough to touch that record.

Emmitt carried 4,409 times in the regular season and had 515 catches. You got HOF wide receivers with fewer catches than that. Damn near 5,000 touches not even including the playoffs. His TD record might be even harder to catch. Can any RB today hit 20 rush TD's? Saquon could but not in Tush Push Philly.
