This year, not one of these guys is better than Alex Smith, stop it.

That's why I gotta ride for Smith, because that is still the overwhelming majorities thought.

They got their mind polluted with that fantasy football is real football shyt.

None of them dudes mentioned there are playing as well as Alex, watch Romo play and throw them God awful picks and say he's playing better than Smith

I wont even get into Sanchez, that loser can't even take a routine sack without coughing it up

Both are top 10 defenses though (well the Rams were until the Pats game) and the Cards are ranked 4th in pass defense, you don't watch the games.

Coli is full of idiots like him, probably play madden and fantasy football, catch the highlights and think they know who is playing well.

In a game by game basis it is, but when you look at a season or a career, it's a pretty good stat.

Look at the top 5 and bottom 5 in QB rating and that's a pretty accurate depiction of who is the best and who is the worst that year.

2011

1. Rodgers
2. Brees
3. Brady
4. Romo
5. Stafford

28. Tebow
29. Grossman
30. Bradford
31. Ponder
32. Skelton

Now tell me that's not a pretty damn accurate assessment of the best and worst QB's of 2011 off the top of the head.

What is Romo's career QB rating? You sound dumb as hell. Also, anyone with a brain knows that you can't JUST look at the QB rating. You actually have to watch the QB play. When Cassel had that pro bowl year, smart people knew he didn't pass the eye test. You have to look at many things. Oponnents, line play, offense, defense, pocket pressence, can he manipulate defenses, can he make pre snap adjustments, what is the QB asked to do, etc. A game manager that plays safe will most likely have better QB rating than a QB who's asked to win games. That's not knocking Alex, but don't tell me dude is good when his coaching staff doesn't want him throwing too much.

You have watched Montana and Young and you still don't know what a good QB looks like. :mindblown:

hate to nitpick here, but breh...over long run good qbs no matter who they are (game managers or not) will have a better qb rating than bad qbs...

and if you disagree show me some game managing bad qbs with great qb rating over their careers...there isnt one in top 10 career qb rating

its a shytty stat, but emp is right in that over the long run the top qbs have top qb rating...

I don't get all the hate for Alex Smith. Is he an all pro? No. But he is better than some of you are making him out to be.

People called Dilfer a game manager and he had a career rating of 70.2

The actual QB rating isn't the end all be all, but 12 td's and 5 picks is pretty good, on pace for 24 td's 10 int's.

That's the whole thing, his supporters don't say he is elite or all pro or top fukking 10 even.

But his detractors say dumb shyt like Sanchez is better.

He is a lot better than what people make him out to be.

Garrard beasted what...4-5 years ago by playing safe and efficient. He had a top 5 rating.

Shaun Hill was like this as well. Rivers, Romo, Eli heaving balls all over the place which affects their ratings.

If you take more chances and throw the ball a lot, your rating will take a harder hit than a guy who throws underneath shyt and has a couple TD's.

you are generalizing tho...romo and rivers are top 7 EVER in qb rating. garrard and shaun hill arent top 15. plus hill has a terrible sample size.

I hear ya. But then again I might be the wrong person to make this point. I'm a Bills fan so Fitz is my starting qb :shaq2: Almost any qb will look good to me at this point.

Doesn't Alex have a small sample size?

alex doesnt even have good qb rating in his career...so this isnt about alex, its about the concept of qb who does safe throws and isnt terribly great in general, having better rating than qbs who need to throw the ball.

I'm talking about his time with Harbs since the 6 previous years have been erased.

I never talked about the caliber of player. All I said is a safe player who dink and dunks his way to the end zone will typically have a higher rating than a guy who is behind and is asked to throw the ball all over the field.

Rivers as a game manager is a lot better than Rivers as a chucker.

We have seen what Alex looks like when he's asked to stretch the field...that QB rating plummets.
