idpol = "identity politics"

California is not "1000 percent democrat" :dahell:

Also, it makes complete sense in a state with a 40% Latino population to appoint a Latino senator...when they've never had one.

im exaggerating obviously, but the democrats have a super majority in the state house, republicans are hanging on by a thread

as far as the appt, some of y'all need to have some deep thoughts, do you put your race first or your party first?

If you are not careful you may wake up one day and be a full blown c00n

I already spoke about this issue earlier. States with larger Black populations should be pressured to have Black senators...not California.

So, you would vote for a Black candidate whose politics didn't align with yours at all, over a non Black candidate who holds many of your views and positions on issues?

Maybe, there are other factors, but yeah, I voted for Obama and Kamalah (for senator) because they are "black" for example. I didn't really care about their political views, but both of them were going for positions that no black person had held before and they seemed fairly competent so I made the calculation that their race overrides their political views. I would have made the same calculation if they were black republicans

the only thing I refuse to vote for is incompetence or stupidity, I don't care what race they are

Having Latino representation in California would be "going backwards." :patrice:

Yeesh. Didn’t expect this from Ayanna. This under the surface dem infighting with some of these black politicians begging for the credit from Biden and co while only getting scraps...I mean plenty of us said this would happen.

I mean what did y’all expect? He isn’t giving you shyt because he doesn’t have to. You were told this during the primaries. Still ran out in full force to support him and dig his campaign out of the grave. Now he’s replacing Kamala with a historic Latino appointment and y’all wanna act all crazy about it? These folks are showing their ass while also disrespecting the Latino contribution to their victory. Kamala made history for us. Let him make history for them. That seat doesn’t have to forever be a black woman. Goddamn. This is truly pathetic.

that crunk lady is a big joke anyway. seeing all these blue check negroes chastising anybody black who isnt enthusiastic about biden/harris now start to freak out about a lack of jobs is kinda hilarious but sad for us all since these are the most prominent black people we have in politics. they have none of the integrity or chess-playing ability of black advocates in the past.

that being said, california is damn near mexico. biden tried to warn them during that taped call where he was talking down to them like some children. he said we were going to have to learn how to deal with hispanics, LOL. she should have picked her battles elsewhere. it would make more sense to be trying to get DNC commitment to groom black women for spots in upcoming elections.

All of this contributes to a theory I've been developing about American culture. We are not a Roman Republic, or a shining city on a hill, or a melting pot. We are an unwilling confederation of tribes. We practice tribalism, but it isn't limited to ethnicity. Big Business is a powerful tribe. LGBTQ is a tribe that only recently got a seat at the table. Suburban whites are the whiniest of the tribes. Each tribe wants representation so their own unique interests can be taken care of. And if we would just admit this instead of pretending we're all American Citizens Participating In Democracy™, we'd all be a lot happier, I think.

Not to mention the fact that if we established a legitimate tribal council, issues where one tribe is guilty of committing violence against another could get hashed out. The white tribe could be punished for their repeated attacks on the black tribe. But instead, the white tribe obfuscates reality and gaslights the others into thinking that the status quo is the best possible system.

I'm almost certain he's Mexican based on what triggers him.

Open borders, kids in cages, black women being upset a Hispanic was appointed a seat, and how he always brushes aside black issues as mere idpol.

i feel like we've heard more about who bidens cabinet is, than what their qualifications are

like its great that mayor pete blows his husband, but does that make him the best person in america who was qualified to be the transportation secretary? i cant in good faith say that the answer is yes :upsetfavre:
:mjlol: nothing like finding an accurate post from a year ago
