This show fits right into "try too hard" category of shows

It tried too hard to be pro-black militant and wound up at times a parody of itself.

The villain tried too hard. He was a poor man's Hannibal Lecter/Se7en. Not to mention the terrible Eminem-like hair.

It tried too hard with the rap music blaring. Subtle would have worked better. Herbie Hancock would have been perfect or Grover Washington Jr.

This on "The Day of The Jackal" or similar would have been PERFECT

If they wanted rap, Nas "The Message" or Lost Boyz "Renee" would have worked better to fit the mood.

It really sound like someone from The Coli put this show together based on the dialogue and scenarios.

This can’t be said on the coli without someone yelling cac, but honestly, this show was trying way too hard to be “too black.” Some of the tropes and clichés just come off as silly.

By the way, I’ve never liked that actress, Juanita Jennings, who always plays the bitter grandma with that weird face. I can’t stand her acting.

"Devil in Blue Dress" and "Luther" are exactly what tone this needed to have and it fell waaaaayyy short.

Props to Aldis Hodge- he was much better than the material that was given to him

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
That's one of the issues of shooting back to back seasons. No chance the writing will improve from S1 if there are any issues.

One thing I hated though:
Episode 5 spoilers

When Shannon breaks free, why the fukk didnt she hit Ed over the head with the wine bottle? She was behind him and couldve easily knocked him out and ran(or knocked him out and cut his throat). But she lets him turn around, she breaks wine bottle on the counter to use the piece to cut. If that was the goal why not break the bottle before he gets there so you already have the cutting pieces in your hand. I know "tv shyt" and all, but still annoying as hell :francis:
Common Hollywood trope.. Victim has the clear drop on the killer.. Most times even getting the drop and knocking him out. But NEVER do they stab, hit or shoot that dude an additional 58 times in order to make sure

Her brother was murdered, the cops was lying and blaming it on him, and nobody was fukking listening

Lucky all shyt did was get on people's nerves and didn't go on a shooting spree
I understand that and empathize with it but when the 2 men who aren't writing your brother off as a drug addict who overdosed and are trying to find out what really happened to him are asking you to help them help you, I'd expect someone in her position to cooperate. Alex and John were the only ones not giving up on him. The heffa made an issue because Shannon picture was in the newspaper even though it would help find her brothers murderer. She was stupid and working against her own agenda.

If you think good is
-a wackass villain, who in addition to being wack was revealed in the first 10 seconds you saw him
- a midget dancing in a Speedo
- "c00n shyt" being considered good dialogue
- a predictable plot when it came to the chief of police and the cops. (Nobody believes me, turn in your badge, clueless police chief 🙄)

Then I will gladly call myself a hater

When did you predict the chief? Because actually the chief wasn't in on anything and it was actually the spanish cop who was always helping them, that was actually against them

I never said the police chief was in on it.

I said they always have the police chief and every other show refuse to believe the correct or cop/detective

The fact that they did that again was so predictable and not even well-done.

And you knew from the very beginning of the show there was going to be the obligatory turn in your badge and gun scene.

And don't even get me started how he actually took his son to a witness house and had him playing with the kid in the backyard.

The show fell apart when they were able to get Ramsey in like one day after he had chick on the inside kill their witness. I didn't like that Sharon chick so I was rooting for her to die but at least she has a lifetime of grueling mental and physical therapy ahead of her so I can take solace in that. I actually liked Ramsey as the villain; yes he was over the top but so are most serial killers in movies and TV shows. Alex Cross can McGuyver a whole case against someone so you need the villain to have almost cartoonish levels of resources and obsession as well. The Cross character himself is just.....insufferable at times. Two John should have beaten his ass. Also, I don't get the point of Cross pissing off Ramsey in the interrogation because obviously he will be known as the Fanboy Killer sooner or later since Bobby Trey is taking that plea deal. What was the point of that whole scene?
