I've seen people recreate millions of Madlib beats, and you can barely tell which is which. Because Madlib is just looping a lot of his sh*t. So if you have those same records, you can just do what he does, with ease. What ALC is doing is something else. You can have all the ingredients, but you're not gonna be able to chop and layer sh*t the way he does. Dude is a real scientist on the beats.
Madlib took what Prince Paul was doing, but he's not as intricate as Paul was. Paul was a master at chopping and distorting samples in a way where you had trouble figuring out where they were from. But he would loop the sh*t out of dope breaks and samples. And that's why he called his "easy beats". That's Madlib's whole style. So I gotta go with ALC, all day.
